The band initially shied away from electric instruments, playing acoustic folk. However, by the second album, the emphasis has clearly shifted to more experimental music. There was an interest in long, more than 10 minutes, compositions. Mixing folk with other genres such as jazz or rock has made Accolade 2's style very difficult to define. This is both proto-prog and psychedelic folk at the same time. After the breakup of the band in 1971, Don Partridge returned to street art and performed briefly in Sweden, where he released two albums that did not have commercial success. He was remembered in 2004 when his album "The Highwayman" was released, featuring such musicians as Herbie Flowers, Nick Pinn and Richard Durrant. In 2005, his song "Breakfast On Pluto", recorded in 1969 (#26 UK) was included on the soundtrack of the film of the same name, after which Partridge held a UK tour with the indie rock band Lemon Jelly. Don Partridge passed away on September 21, 2010 at the age of 68.
