미 CDC, 모더나 백신도 승인... 미국서 접종 가능해져

Over in the U.S., the distribution of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccines has kicked off ,... and Americans are expected to get inoculated as early as Monday, local time.
Kim Hyo-sun has this story.
The U.S. CDC has accepted its committee's recommendation to vaccinate Americans with Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine.
Its Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices earlier recommended that the vaccines can be given to people over the age of 18.
Such a process is necessary for the country to inoculate its people following the emergency use approval by the FDA.
The U.S. was the first country to greenlight the use of Moderna’s vaccine, which does not need to be stored at ultra cold temperatures like the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
This means the U.S. has now approved two COVID-19 vaccines,... and it's expected to speed up vaccinations for its people,... which is desperately needed to bring the pandemic under control.
Distribution to over 37-hundred locations began on Sunday.
A healthcare supply chain management company, McKesson, says its initial deliveries should arrive by Monday,... adding that inoculations may begin that morning.
The U.S. government plans to deliver 5-point-9 million Moderna shots and 2 million Pfizer shots this week.
