South Korean trade minister Yoo Myung-hee, who is running for the top job at the World Trade Organization says her goal is to make the WTO a more relevant, resilient and responsive world body, if she is approved as Director-General.
Speaking to reporters in Geneva, shortly after her arrival on Sunday,... Yoo said she will reform and restore the organization's core function in handling disputes.
And she added that this is what Japan, a country Seoul is involved in a trade dispute with, might want as well.
This is her, prior to her departure on Sunday.
"Japan, as well as many other member nations, will agree on strengthening the WTO system to overcome crisis amid the multilateral trading system."
A total of eight candidates, including Yoo, will deliver their political views to the WTO's board members, and the electioneering will wrap on September 6th.
