South Korea's trade minister Yoo Myung-hee says she's running for the top job at the World Trade Organization.
At a press conference this morning, Yoo said she will apply for the director-general post in the coming hours.
She vowed to upgrade the agency's agreements and re-establish the WTO's position of resisting global protectionism with other members.
She's a renowned trade negotiator of 25 years and the third South Korean to run.
The WTO has so far received four other applications from Egypt, Mexico, Nigeria and Moldova.
Registration closes July 8th.
During the consultation process,... the General Council will narrow the field of candidates until they reach consensus around a single candidate.
