As part of a nationwide initiative to boost domestic consumption, some of South Korea's major conglomerates along with local mom and pop stores will make up some five-thousand retailers which will begin offering consumers hefty discounts.

South Korea will kick off a nationwide sale campaign this Friday...dubbed the "Korea Donghaeng Sale" which will last until July 12th.
"The Korean word 'Donghaeng' means to go along together. And with more than five-thousand retailers taking part across the country, from conglomerates to local stores, it certainly lives up to its name."
"It's a nationwide initiative to boost domestic consumption and help businesses that have been suffering from the COVID-19 outbreak."
Under the theme of "buy value and live together", more than seven-hundred small and medium sized businesses are selling their products online at a discount.
"We are planning to pitch up to 99-percent discount to attract shoppers. We have around two-thousand-two-hundred products on sale."
Neighborhood grocery stores will sell vegetables at up to 90-percent of wholesale prices.
At traditional marketplaces, consumers will be getting 20-percent of all the money they spend back...in the form of local gift certificates.
Major supermarkets are offering discounts on groceries of up to 50-percent.
And department stores are providing special offers on major brands' latest fashion items as well as high-end cosmetics.
Electronics manufacturers will run promotions for their best-selling products and automakers will provide special deals on certain models.
Through major online shopping malls, consumers will also be able to purchase products ranging from food to home appliances at up to 40-percent discount.
And, at local events, celebrities will be on hand to promote traditional local products, details of which can be found on the Korea Donghaeng Sale website.
Not only that, but K-Pop concerts are also in store to liven up the festive mood even further. But to prevent the spread of COVID-19, they will be held as non-contact events.
