Seoul closely communicated with Washington on GSOMIA decision: MOFA

South Korea closely communicated with the U.S. in making the GSOMIA decision.
That's according to Seoul's Foreign ministry on Friday, highlighting a phone conversation between the top diplomats of both sides.
Kang Kyung-wha explained to Mike Pompeo that the decision was made due to trust issues with Tokyo, and that it's irrelevant to the Seoul and Washington's ties.
They agreed the two nations will continue to further develop the alliance.
The ready-posture for regional issues including North Korea's nuclear threats will be maintained.
Seoul will continue its security cooperation with Washington and Tokyo, while also working with the U.S. to minimize any impact the GSOMIA termination could have on trilateral cooperation.
