Seoul explains to U.S. its decision on GSOMIA

Seoul's Foreign Ministry summoned the U.S. Ambassador to South Korea to again explain Seoul's decision to pull out of its intel-sharing agreement with Japan and to ask for Washington's understanding.
According to foreign affairs sources, First Vice Foreign Minister Cho Sei-young sat down with U.S. Ambassador Harry Harris on Wednesday to deliver Seoul's concerns over Washington's repeated statements of disappointment over Seoul's decision.
Cho reportedly emphasized the decision was made because of a dispute with Japan that Tokyo started,... and had nothing to do with the security alliance between South Korea and the U.S.
And on Washington's concerns about Seoul's military drills in the East Sea and on its easternmost Dokdo Island aggravating the situation, Cho said that it is a biannual event Seoul carries out to protect its sovereign territory.
