Tokyo's FM Taro Kono criticizes Seoul's decision to withdraw from GSOMIA
  • 5 years ago
Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono says South Korea's decision to walk away from the military intelligence-sharing pact with Tokyo is "extremely regrettable."
According to Kyodo News,... Kono told reporters Seoul is "completely misreading the security situation in Northeast Asia" by pulling out.
He also summoned South Korea's ambassador to Japan late Thursday to lodge an official complaint.
Seoul had said Tokyo's removal of South Korea from the list of its preferred trading partners created a "grave change" to their cooperation on security.
But Kono said the two matters are completely different and Seoul's claims are unacceptable.
