Britain is sending a warship to escort all British-flagged vessels through the Strait of Hormuz amid the ongoing tensions between Iran and the West. The move comes as Iranian commandos seized a British-flagged tanker in the region last Friday. The seizure was in response to British forces capturing an Iranian oil tanker near Gibraltar that was accused of violating sanctions on Syria. A British government spokesperson says the Royal Navy will accompany all British-flagged ships through the Strait of Hormuz should sufficient notice be given of their passage.
