Neil Armstrong's Apollo 11 spacesuit on display to mark 50th anniversary of moon landing
  • 5 years ago
The spacesuit worn by Neil Armstrong during his historic mission to the moon went on display for the first time in 13 years at the Smithsonian's Air and Space Museum in Washington on Tuesday... to mark the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 launch.
The late astronaut's son was at the museum to unveil the suit,... along with U.S. Vice President Mike Pence.
Pence said the U.S. was deeply divided in the late 1960s,... but came together in pride when Armstrong became the first man to walk on the moon.
The spacesuit was displayed for about 30 years before it was removed in 2006 due to concerns about wear and tear.
Over the past 13 years, the suit has gone through extensive restoration funded by thousands of public donations.
