Monsoon season starts across Korea 062619

Good morning. A monsoonal front reached is dropping heavy showers on Jeju and the Jeolla-do Provinces, which will gradually expand to more areas as the day goes on. The weather agency says the whole country will have monsoon season kicking off on the same day, which is a first in 12 years.

Seoul will see rain tonight which will linger into tomorrow afternoon. Other regions will see showers into tomorrow as well. Southern coastal regions and are Jeju forecast to see 20 to 60 millimeters of rain with bouts of particularly torrential rain.

A heavy rain advisory has been issued for Jeju while Seoul continues to be scorching during the day with a heat advisory still in place.

There's been a slight rise in temperatures this morning, with lows ranging between 15 and 21 degrees Celsius.

Daily highs in most areas will be similar to a couple notches lower, Seoul at 32, Jeju at 26 degrees.
