EU's top diplomat warns against overreacting to Iran's threat to enrich more uranium
  • 5 years ago
There has been a relatively muted reaction by the European Union to Iran's announcement Monday that it would begin increasing its stocks of enriched uranium over the limit set by its 2015 nuclear deal.
Speaking in Luxembourg on Monday, the EU's foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini advised against jumping to conclusions without proper information on Tehran's current nuclear compliance.
She said Brussels will not speculate but evaluate based on the factual, technically sound assessment and evaluation that the International Atomic Energy Agency makes in its reports, those that so far show Iran has been meeting its nuclear commitments.
Mogherini also said they are trying to gather information on last week's attack on two oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman.
