One million species at risk of extinction, with humans accelerating its speed: UN report

The UN has warned that up to one million plant and animal species are on the verge of extinction,... while humans are accelerating the speed of their extinction.
The UN's first comprehensive report on biodiversity issued by the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services pointed out the species loss is accelerating to a rate tens or hundreds of times faster than in the past.
It also explained that over half a million species on land have insufficient habitat for long-term survival and are likely to go extinct within decades,... unless their habitats are restored.
Such a report was devised by over 460 specialists worldwide based on three years of research.
