The U.S. State Department has introduced a new indicator for its travel advisories,... warning Americans of the risk of kidnapping and hostage taking in 35 countries.
These countries, which will now be labeled with a "K,"... include Russia, Turkey, the Philippines and Iran.
The move comes a matter of days after an American tourist and her tour guide were rescued after being abducted in Uganda.
The State Department also updated travel advisories based on risk indicators like crime, terrorism, natural disasters, and other possible risks.
North Korea, where a U.S. travel ban is still in place following the death of an American college student in 2017,... is classified as a country with "other dangers."
