COVID-19 fatality rate quickens in U.S., millions at risk of eviction: Report

The U.S. has the worst COVID-19 outbreak in the world according to White House coronavirus advisor Doctor Anthony Fauci.
And, according to latest figures, the coronavirus fatality rate is projected to get worse in August with the number of deaths recorded on average per second already outpacing that of July.
The worsening coronavirus situation in the U.S. has put tens of millions of people at risk of eviction from their homes... as they're unable to pay rent mainly due to unemployment caused by the pandemic.

The latest figures from Johns Hopkins University show the number of confirmed cases in the U.S. is at more than four-point-eight-million... while the number of coronavirus-related deaths has reached some 158-thousand.
U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director Anthony Fauci... in an interview with CNN stated... the U.S. has the worst coronavirus outbreak in the world... and that the "numbers don't lie."
He said the U.S., which accounts for less than five-percent of the world population... leads all other countries in coronavirus infections and deaths.
The latest figures also show that the coronavirus fatality rate in the U.S. is speeding up.
NBC News reported Wednesday that, during the past week, seven-thousand-486 people in the U.S. have died due to the virus... which in turn means the U.S. has recorded one COVID-19 fatality every 80 seconds.
This is faster than the month of July... which was one death every 102 seconds.
The number of confirmed cases in Florida reached 500-thousand... becoming the second state following California to achieve this unwanted milestone... with Texas not far behind.
U.S. reports show some 23-million people in the U.S. who rent are at risk of losing their homes due to economic difficulties stemming from the coronavirus outbreak.
Citing U.S. think tank, the Aspen Institute... the Associated Press reported the situation has been exacerbated due to the discontinuation of weekly federal assistance of 600 U.S. dollars in unemployment benefits for those in the low-income bracket... which ended last month.
The report noted that evicted families often double up with relatives and friends, stay in shelters or end up on the streets... increasing the risk of infection.
