On the back of this impressive performance, Ryu brought down his ERA from 8.00 to 5.14.
Meanwhile, Texas Rangers' veteran outfielder Choo Shin-soo slammed his third home run of the season against the Oakland Athletics in California on the same day.
Choo, who is a leadoff hitter for the Rangers, struck the first pitch of the game deep to left-field wall, putting the visitors on the board early on.
The latest homerun puts him side-to-side with Charlie Blackmon and George Springer, as active players with the most leadoff home runs in the Major League at thirty-six.
Switching gears to football, Son Heung-min was recognized as Tottenham Hotspurs' best player of the 2019-2020 season by club legends on Thursday.
With the latest accolade, the South Korean national team captain swept all five annual awards handed out by the club, including 'The Player of the Season' and 'The Goal of the Season.'
