After finishing second in the Cy Young award and becoming the first Asian to receive a first-place vote,... South Korean pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin is now back home.
He said his good physical condition was behind his successful season.

South Korean pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin returned home on Thursday after coming second in the voting for the National League Cy Young Award.
Upon arrival in Korea, Ryu told reporters how he felt about the award and his season this year.
"All in all, I believe I had a good season. I was planning to play 30 games as a starting pitcher, I did play in 29 games thanks to being in good condition. The results were good because I was healthy enough."
Ryu, who is now a free agent, added he plans to take a rest for while at home,... but will keep up his fitness levels.
In the voting results announced by the Baseball Writers Association of America on Wednesday,… Ryu received one first-place vote, ten second-place votes …and eight third-place votes for a total of 88 points.
Jacob deGrom of the New York Mets won the Cy Young Award for the second straight season, …getting 29 first-place votes and 207 points in total.
Ryu is the first South Korean pitcher to earn a Cy Young vote …and the first Asian to get a first-place vote.
He had a great season at the LA Dodgers,... with a 2-point-32 ERA in about 182 innings.
For the American League Cy Young Award, Houston Astro's pitcher Justin Verlander won the award for this year,... winning his second award in 8 years.
