평양 정상회담 9월 18일 진행; 김정은 비핵화 의지 재확인

Kim Jong-un did indeed say again that he wants to have the Peninsula denuclearized and now he's put a timeline on it.
But apparently the North is disappointed that what it sees as meaningful steps it's taken already have not been recognized as such.
Shin Se-min has the latest.
The next big event between South and North Korea will take place over three days and two nights,... from September 18th through the 20th in Pyongyang.
Addressing the nation, South Korean President Moon Jae-in's special envoy Chung Eui-yong said the upcoming summit will go over the implementation of the agreement struck by the two leaders in their first meeting back in April -- a deal that also includes a clause about the regime's getting rid of its nuclear weapons.

The envoy then quoted North Korean leader Kim Jong-un as saying that he hoped to completely denuclearize the Korean Peninsula and to scrap all future long-range missile tests -- all before the end of U.S. President Donald Trump's first term in 2021.
That promise by the regime's leader comes as denuclearization talks with the U.S. stall.

"North Korea expressed its frustration that the regime's efforts to denuclearize have not been accepted as a sign of good will. The North said the denuclearization steps it has taken so far are very significant and meaningful."

And in the process of its denuclearization,... Kim Jong-un agreed to closely cooperate not just with Seoul but also with Washington.
But a disappointing revelation too -- the South Korean envoy said it's unlikely that Kim Jong-un will make his international debut at the UN General Assembly in New York,... which would have opened the door to a a possible three-way summit with Presidents Moon and Trump.
But the envoy did say that South and North have agreed to open their planned inter-Korean liaison office before this month's summit.
With the date set for that meeting -- and inter-Korean relations seemingly back on track,... the summit preparation team is already scrambling to make a plan,... before the officials from the two sides meet for their pre-summit meeting next week at the inter-Korean village of Panmunjom.
