Search operations for the five people still missing from the Sewol-ho ferry disaster began on Monday.
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries said that it has officially started its two-month long search mission at the new Mokpo port where the ferry was lifted to an upright position last month.
The ministry, Coast Guard and the defense and health ministries, have set up lights and a pathway that allows access to the ship's interior.
The search will focus on areas surrounding the auxiliary engine room, and investigators will remove mud from inside the vessel and search for the missing bodies.
The Sewol-ho ferry capsized in waters off the nation's southwestern coast in 2014, taking hundreds of lives including students on a field trip to Jeju island.
