Ice jams on the Connecticut River were painted in an orange glow at sunrise, as seen in this January 21 video taken by a local photographer.On January 18, the ice dams that formed due to water build-ups behind blocks of ice prompted officials in Haddam, Connecticut, to declare an “emergency condition,” amid fears of flooding and ice-related damage, the Hartford Courant reported.The Coast Guard had been trying to clear the sheets of ice, which measured up to 10 feet in diameter, according to NBC Connecticut.
