More Than a Dozen Air Raids Reported in Rebel-Held Daraa City

Over a dozen air raids targeted rebel-held areas of Daraa city’s Tariq al-Asad neighborhood on June 15. Syrian activists claimed the air raids included various munitions, including barrel bombs, elephant missiles, and napalm.The aerial bombardments in Daraa, which have virtually decimated the southern half of the city, led to the launch of an activist campaign dubbed Action for Daraa on June 15. Members of the campaign are working with Doctors Without Borders, Save the Children, and the International Committee for the Red Cross (ICRC) to help facilitate humanitarian aid deliveries to support those affected by the ongoing urban conflict.The White Helmets reported on June 15 that at least 57 civilians, including 13 children, have been killed in Daraa airstrikes since the beginning of June, while the Daraa Provincial Council declared the Daraa Camp, a local Palestinian refugee camp in the rebel-controlled part of the city, a disaster zone following the increase in localized airstrikes and ground fighting.Meanwhile, pro-regime forces continued to engage in sporadic firefights with Syrian rebels in the area surrounding Daraa Camp over the past 24 hours – at least four members of the Lebanese Hezbollah have been killed in recent days, highlighting the direct participation of regime-aligned foreign militias in the battle for Daraa.
