Extendable Hand-Held Self Portrait Pocket Monopod Review

The monopod specifications give the maximum weight of a camera to be supported as 1.25 pounds. Our DSLRs weigh considerably more than that, but our Canon G-10 weighs only 14 ounces, so that's what I used for trying out the monopod. Even after extending the collapsible monopod to its full length, the device seemed sturdy enough that I didn't worry about the camera. When taking a picture, the camera is out of reach, so you need to use the camera's self-timer. It took a little trial and error to get the zoom set for the best shot, but after getting it right, I was pleased with the results.

The attachment for holding a smartphone also worked well. My phone's camera does not have a self-timer, so all I could do would be to start a video, then extend the phone to get myself in the image.

I made a short video showing the monopod in use with my compact camera. I used my smartphone to shoot the video, and I attached it to a mini-tripod with the smartphone attachment that comes with the monopod.
