With four charging ports, the iXCC charger may be the only AC power adapter that many people need. And with its minimal size and weight, it's very suitable as a travel charger. The folding plug is a nice touch, since there are no prongs to poke holes in a travel bag.
The stated outputs from the four charging ports are listed as:
Port 1: 5V, 1000mA
Port 2: 5V, 1000mA
Port 3: 5V, 2400mA
Port 4: 5V, 2400mA
These are maximum outputs from each port. If all four ports were outputting these amounts simultaneously, the total output would be 6.8 Amps. The specs, however, indicate that the maximum total output is 4.2 Amps. In most cases, that's enough to charge four devices simultaneously at a reasonably fast speed. I tested the charger by connecting four mobile devices - a Kindle Fire HD 7", a Kindle Fire HDX 7", and two Android phones. All four devices were recharging at respectable rates. I connected a USB power meter to one of the tablets and observed that the voltage was very close to the specified 5 volts. The current was approximately 0.5A, which is less than I'm used to getting when using the single port 1.0A AC charger that I normally use for this tablet. (I confirmed this later by using same port by itself to recharge the tablet, and it was delivering 0.8A.) After a while, the charger became very warm, not alarmingly so, but it was noticeably warmer than the single or dual port chargers I usually use. Unfortunately I don't have any Apple phones or tablets to test with the charger.
Based on my tests of the iXCC charger, I'm not sure if it's capable of simultaneously charging four mobile devices at the same rate as some single or dual port AC chargers that I've used. That may be a fair trade-off for some users for the convenience of carrying only one AC charger. Also, I doubt if many users often have a need to recharge four devices simultaneously. But for those who do, the reduced amperage and the heating up of the charger may be reasons for concern.
