Excellent Avido 2800mAh light-duty charger for smartphones and other small mobile devices

The Avido portable battery charger is probably the smallest and most lightweight 2800mAh charger that I've seen. It's truly pocket-size, and the rounded edges won't poke holes in a pocket or purse. After charging it up, I tested the Avido with my Android phone, which has a 2200mAh battery. Using an accurate USB power meter, I measured the charger's output as 4.8 volts and 0.98 Amps. The current was comparable to the output of AC chargers with a 1.0A port when connected to this phone. Both the voltage and amperage were stable throughout charging.

Assuming an electrical efficiency of 85% (typical for portable battery chargers), the charger should have an available capacity of approximately 2400mAh, which is sufficient to provide a full charge to most smartphones on the market today, and a partial recharge to phablets and tablets.

The Avido has a single LED light that shows green while it's charging, then turns off. Other than that, there's no way to know how much capacity remains after recharging a mobile device, so it should be recharged after every use. There's no power button - the charger turns on and off automatically when connected to or disconnected from a mobile device. The charger includes an 11" micro USB charging cable.

The Avido charger is a nice little portable charger for recharging cellphones to extend talk time or play more music or videos. For tablets, a charger with more capacity may be better unless you only occasionally need a boost.
