00:00:00Previously on Project Runway, designers, each of you are going to be entering a collab with the Ashton Longshore.
00:00:09Is there a way to incorporate the print a little bit more?
00:00:12This is not my challenge. I just can't.
00:00:15I don't know about that top. Look at the bus. It looks crazy.
00:00:19Maybe they won't see it.
00:00:21Do you want to see the medic?
00:00:23You sure?
00:00:24Oh, I'm worried about my energy level.
00:00:27A soldier will die at the battlefield.
00:00:30I love what you did with this.
00:00:33This is what a successful collaboration looks like.
00:00:36Brittany, you are the winner.
00:00:38Yes!
00:00:39Victoria, you are safe.
00:00:41Marquise, that means you are out.
00:00:43We're happy for you.
00:00:45I'm not.
00:00:50At stake for the winner, a quarter of a million dollars, courtesy of Blueprint.
00:00:55A feature in Elle magazine, $50,000.
00:01:00Supplied by Pilot FriXion erasable pens.
00:01:03And a career-changing mentorship with the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
00:01:07This is Project Runway.
00:01:18Yesterday, I feel like I've ran a marathon.
00:01:25It's so, so heavy to even lift a pen.
00:01:27The weeks of competition, labor-wise, is wearing me down.
00:01:32I just wish I had a different body.
00:01:36What do you think the challenge is going to be?
00:01:38I hope only not Prince.
00:01:39It's coming.
00:01:40I don't want nothing.
00:01:42It's so bad to be on the bottom.
00:01:44It's so bad.
00:01:45I mean, I forgot that I was on top.
00:01:47For me, that this doesn't matter.
00:01:49And I am the worst designer in the world.
00:01:52Victoria's freaking out because she was on the bottom.
00:01:55Victoria, you didn't push yourself.
00:01:56I'm disappointed.
00:01:58I am too.
00:01:59Victoria knows what she's capable of.
00:02:02And she's made a mistake, which doesn't happen to her.
00:02:07I'm not one to coddle anybody.
00:02:09You kind of have to get over it.
00:02:11This is the thing.
00:02:11I'm afraid that I was on the bottom.
00:02:13I think too much.
00:02:14I mean, to not have this blockage, you know, artistic.
00:02:19It was only because you didn't use a lot of the Prince.
00:02:23Everything was wrong.
00:02:26I just get blocked.
00:02:27I have two big expectations, and I just feel that I disappointed myself.
00:02:36This is how I am as a person, and I hate this feeling.
00:02:40I think too much, and I know that I don't look like I think too much.
00:02:45Who's going home next?
00:02:48Oh, my God.
00:02:49You guys ready to get out of here?
00:02:50Yes.
00:02:51Let's go figure out what the challenge is.
00:02:53Yeah.
00:02:53Let's go.
00:02:57Woo!
00:03:06Woo!
00:03:08Wow!
00:03:09Hello, designers.
00:03:11You know I felt with me today.
00:03:13Give us a strap, Brandon.
00:03:14I'm a real live person.
00:03:17That's beautiful.
00:03:19Beautiful, right?
00:03:20Thank you, guys.
00:03:22One of the most important things to consider as a designer
00:03:25is how a woman actually feels in the clothes that you create.
00:03:29And few people on the planet understand that better
00:03:33than our judge and CFDA Women's Wear Designer of the Year,
00:03:38Brandon Maxwell.
00:03:39Hey.
00:03:40Growing up in a store myself
00:03:42and being a stylist for a decade
00:03:44and starting my own brand,
00:03:46I realized from a very early age
00:03:47that there's nothing more important
00:03:49than making the woman feel good.
00:03:51That should always be your end goal.
00:03:53The best designers in the world
00:03:55know how to showcase and celebrate
00:03:57the female form with their fashion.
00:04:00There's a provocative trend sweeping the runways
00:04:03using the sheerest of fabrics
00:04:04to create barely their editorial looks.
00:04:07Dior, Valentino, and Jean-Baptiste Diwali
00:04:09have all recently shown collections
00:04:11that use sheer fabrics
00:04:12to take their designs to the next level.
00:04:15So your challenge is to create an editorial look
00:04:18using sheer fabrics.
00:04:20What is sheer?
00:04:22Citro.
00:04:22Citro.
00:04:24You're getting to see through that.
00:04:27There's a tasteful way to do sheer.
00:04:30I think Karli, what she's wearing,
00:04:32is a great example of this.
00:04:33It's not just exposing a woman.
00:04:36That should not be what this is about.
00:04:38It's about getting creative.
00:04:40You can do anything,
00:04:41but there's a way to be sexy
00:04:44that's not so obvious.
00:04:45I'm ready to be wowed.
00:04:47all right it's time to pick models my handy dandy button bag here here are
00:04:53your gorgeous models Brittany you won the last challenge so you have immunity
00:04:58don't rely on it I'm not promise and you have first pick of the models I am
00:05:04gonna pick separate she's all yours now Brandon and I are gonna pick names to
00:05:10see who gets to decide next Dalvin I would like to choose you in she's all
00:05:19yours Jeffrey oh pigeon pigeon sorry Chelsea Jessica Nancy I'm going to redeem
00:05:33myself with Dee Dee all right Dee Dee is with you Nancy last week I was on the
00:05:38bottom Nancy your model is getting swallowed up in this fabric it doesn't
00:05:44fit I want to show all Dee Dee's body so this week watch out Sergio can I pick
00:05:51Nora please all right Nora's with you Victoria Asia Asia all right day young
00:05:57that means you have Stephanie okay so you all have your models and here they are
00:06:08the power of pure fabric as part of this challenge you'll each work with your
00:06:15model during sketch time to ensure they're comfortable and confident when
00:06:20they walk the runway in their sheer looks oh and by the way this is a one-day
00:06:25challenge knew it there will be immunity awarded to the winner of this challenge
00:06:31and this will be the last immunity awarded in the competition wow having two back-to-back wins getting
00:06:39the last immunity would be super clutch that's a little stingy and selfish but all right there is
00:06:46so many plot twists here I know guys keeping you on your toes you're gonna have 30 minutes to sketch and
00:06:52meet with your models and when you're done you'll meet Christian that they inspire us guys now is the
00:06:57time don't hold back get out of here we will see you on the runway I feel sick in my stomach oh my
00:07:05young now my young oh um get her right get her right get her right get her right what a medic
00:07:13I'm gonna take a look I know that she was really hungry earlier we're all super super worried about
00:07:29her it's absolutely terrifying because this is not the first time that's happened she doesn't look good
00:07:38your body's just shutting down yeah babe I'm gonna make you ginger tea I know what it's like to work
00:07:46yourself to death and be falling apart so I'm trying to do my best to help make sure that she's okay
00:07:51it's really intense I am worried for her is that good yes thank you have your feet covered yes thank you
00:07:58coming up look at all these sheer gorgeous things don't you dare go in that aisle I'm grabbing options
00:08:05I'm being tougher in my old age I'm done if you're gonna stay in this competition this is gonna be
00:08:17something that's gonna be a problem you know and I don't want you feeling like this especially if
00:08:22you're competing I want you to feel like you're healthy enough to do what you have to do you know
00:08:26okay this is a safety thing that's why I want to give you the opportunity to just tell us what you
00:08:31need so that way we can make sure that as a production my mind is thinking that you can
00:08:39keep going but my body is telling me you've done enough okay at the end of the day I'm a human before
00:08:52designer what's going on I have decided that I have to lift the competition are you sure oh it's for
00:09:13the best of my own health you know like coming into the competition like I thought like I'll do my best
00:09:20you know like enjoy every mom you did more than that you just want you to be okay this is what you
00:09:27feel is right I mean it makes me really sad but I love you so much my decision to leave is the most
00:09:37difficult thing that I made in my whole life I'm so grateful for everybody who tried to help me
00:09:50to help me and I feel like my story is not done take care of yourself I love you bye and I want to keep
00:10:01doing whatever I love and until my last day I'm gonna be designing what the yeah this is this is crazy
00:10:11scary yeah it's a lot sucks when your body won't do what you want to do it's really heartbreaking
00:10:18but it's all right you love here so much uh-huh for me it's heartbreaking to see her go I think
00:10:27bowing out was the right choice it just is sad we are seven oh hey guys let's go to work we have to
00:10:41sketch come on guys we can do it I want to find out what you're comfortable with because that's the
00:10:58most important thing right I'm okay to show everything except exactly maybe a little bit
00:11:07peekaboo here but they want to leave this sleeveless yes and they want to use chiffon you know so I'm
00:11:14gonna go with this it's sheer but I sew it so it's not totally sheer and then I'm gonna create this
00:11:21double collar that starts off looking like a sleeve I feel like this is like super prom I didn't get to
00:11:28have prom so it's like my prom currency oh okay when I find out that Didi never went to their prom
00:11:35it's an ajo moment for me that's gonna be my inspiration but the challenge with sheer fabrics
00:11:41is that it shows everything your finishings have to be spot-on because every seam will be shown
00:11:49picture like right like just freaking right they're looking for an editorial story how did you meet your
00:11:59husband martial arts really what's he the instructor yeah I'm basically married to the Chinese German
00:12:05wedding I'm really using Nora's story of how Nora from a German background is entering into a Chinese
00:12:13American culture family I'm gonna do this really beautiful cascading sheared gathered overlay skirts
00:12:20last year I actually created a very editorial collection including this beautiful magenta gown
00:12:27completely made out of tulle I know how to make a woman look beautiful in sheer garments I'm gonna
00:12:32take the gold for this one it sounds incredible okay I would like to go for it this particular time
00:12:39yes that's what I expect you to do and I kind of want to do something that gives a little bit of
00:12:45drama last week I was safe this week I need to bring it I do design for the everyday person and
00:12:52everyday looks don't always read editorial but we are now halfway through the competition so I want
00:12:58to show range as a designer this one's gonna be tricky so this will be the dress okay because you can
00:13:03see through it I want to stuff it with something that is like romantic yeah so these I'm really vibing
00:13:10off of as far as the palette goes where there's like um but so which one out of these would be
00:13:16the sheer one not sure yet I have to get the design I guess first but um the only thing that I've got is
00:13:26basically a color palette from these earrings that I'd like to use I'm pretty sure I want to do a black and
00:13:32white stripe somehow and incorporate blue but is that a design no all right guys let's get going
00:13:41to mood send me good vibrations we're back hello hi mood wow small little group dropping like flies well
00:13:58guys I was really sorry to hear about Dayoung I think she's so talented but obviously we have to
00:14:04keep moving on in the competition and because Dayoung left the competition someone else you know is coming back
00:14:12oh that's amazing
00:14:16coming up hello everybody hi who's ready for a twist you serious
00:14:27because Dayoung left the competition someone else you know is coming back
00:14:35I mean that's an entrance it's such a great opportunity to be back I'm going to show the
00:14:49judges of why they shouldn't have sent me home and make every moment count oh my did you save him
00:14:57no he's coming back because we lost someone and because he was the last designer eliminated
00:15:02you are so lucky I just want to make sure you understand the challenge is to create an
00:15:07editorial look embracing sheer fabrics you'll get Stephanie as your model who's going to consult
00:15:12with you back at the workroom let's go you have $300 and 30 minutes to shop all right go
00:15:18you're on the same aisle there's so many sheer fabrics in other places I'm grabbing options
00:15:34oh I'm already bored there's so many sheer fabrics that way don't you dare go in that aisle don't you
00:15:41dare I like chiffon okay well that's all chiffon and organza where everybody else is I'm still
00:15:46confused about how transparent a fabric should be to be considered sheer but are these beautiful
00:15:51yes but from I need to something very long you can change up your idea not too much my idea for this
00:15:59challenge is to make an asymmetrical yellow sheer dress and it's not easy to make this from sheer
00:16:06sheer sheer sheer sheer sheer sheer sheer I mean they're nice but it's not me okay well good luck
00:16:13I'm being tougher in my old age I'm done let me have a yard of this all right designers 10 minutes
00:16:23I'm gonna go get that upstairs what'd you get I'm I'm gonna go I have nothing yet no I have stuff I'm
00:16:29gonna go with high shoulder tailored blue chiffon sleeves and then it's black and white shoulders
00:16:34black and white belt oh that's cool um I really had a hard hard time um the young oh really responsible
00:16:41oh why let's just help and take care of her you know I feel like a broken machine I know
00:16:46oh thank you anyway it was just hard uh to see her go is all yeah but do you like my design
00:16:54I mean I I think so yeah thanks man good luck orange might be nice actually I kind of like that a lot
00:17:04Chelsea what are you doing with orange feathers so I want to double this as my over layer and stuff
00:17:12it with feathers it's very intense it is I think you should have another option
00:17:19all right designers you have like two minutes
00:17:24snatching everything thank you so much anyone I'm here at mood alone
00:17:31all right designers that's time will you say a word of prayer for me please thanks
00:17:41welcome oh my god word on the street he's back with the vengeance
00:17:54oh didn't land right
00:18:02hello my hello thank you I'm so happy that you're here me too this is the idea I have for you like a sheer
00:18:13bell sleeve and a velvet wrap skirt so what are you comfortable with showing
00:18:17guys don't show my butt yeah no I definitely didn't want to do that I love sheer fabrics I design with sheer
00:18:24fabrics a lot my first collection was completely lace titties all out so for me this is gonna be like a
00:18:30revenge moment of like you shouldn't have sent me home and this is why
00:18:33thank you see you later
00:18:36that point right there
00:18:41this was a setup sabotage what this challenge the one dayness of it we really want these shears to be
00:18:51perfectly finished technically flawless by the way you have 12 hours
00:18:57I'm going for clean no fuss me you have to take your time on this because they see
00:19:10every flaw people are gonna end up with messes
00:19:13hello everybody who's ready for a twist oh Jesus Peter Mary and Joseph are you serious
00:19:21I love a twist you hear what he just said
00:19:27no twist I'm just gonna walk around oh I'm not that evil just a little bit
00:19:37what's happening what are you doing I want it to be kind of like a straight
00:19:42sleeve and then putting a couple of pleats where it just kind of pins it in the middle a lot of all you
00:19:46what's going over I would love to do like a pant but that's not gonna happen it's a one-day
00:19:53challenge that's what you should play with like is it a pant is it a short what will
00:19:57make it feel like new and cool and right exactly but I think it's looking really pretty cool
00:20:05they want to cheer and she's fine with being naked I wouldn't do naked if you have enough for
00:20:10second layer for the skirt I would do it how's it going good this is the skirt I want to do a jacket
00:20:18but I'm trying to be very careful not to age this you know I love the volume of this I think this is
00:20:23coming out pretty beautiful and maybe this is sculptural and transparent in a beautiful way
00:20:31why don't you just get this fabric on the form and start pinning and playing with it right you know
00:20:35I'm excited there are elements of this that is very beautiful but maybe you make one other element
00:20:44whether it's a sleeve or a shoulder piece I've decided I'm going to re-drape a collar and try to
00:20:53create a zero waste garment I wove my scraps into it and that looks editorial I don't know what Nancy is
00:21:01doing she's still in this experimental phase and you don't see a clear aesthetic from her eventually
00:21:07there's going to come a time where you can't just wing it what is happening over here what up Christian
00:21:16very little nighty baby doll thing you got going on yeah they definitely feel like kind of different
00:21:24things the the sleeve feels different I just don't know how they make sense together and how are you
00:21:32playing with this idea of you know sheerness where was this that's going to be the actual overlay here
00:21:41what yeah it yeah oh my god so many things if you put that over this you're covering up all the
00:21:49sheerness like the challenges to be sheer be transparent highlight the body in cool ways just
00:21:54because you're using sheer fabrics doesn't mean you're really using the sheer idea in an interesting
00:22:00way maybe it's there's no this maybe this is sheer you know what I mean okay any pivot that you make
00:22:10on a one-day challenge could absolutely make or break whether or not you stay in this competition
00:22:16boy do I love these critiques was it good or bad um I think maybe bad
00:22:24coming up you can't keep doing this to us totally different
00:22:28I don't think the judges are going to think it's different
00:22:38how lovely you bought some sheer fabric is that a coincidence so weird I bought some sheer fabric too
00:22:43I don't know
00:22:50Victoria we need to have a chat of course I just looked at your sketch
00:22:56uh I changed everything I mean my initial idea because I was only physically today at mood not
00:23:05mentally so I'm doing this type of skirt and I will cover with a lot of straps
00:23:12let's have real chat yes okay you can't keep doing this stress
00:23:19it's too similar to everything you keep making this is totally different it's not
00:23:24you keep doing these half high low one side one sleeve power shoulder long sleeve things you've done
00:23:31it in like five books and I love it totally different yes but I don't think the judges are going to think it's different
00:23:40don't be upset I think you're so amazing just
00:23:43I'm so critical with myself and they have some big expectations for me and when I do something wrong
00:23:50I hate myself don't ever think like that you can't you're amazing and I want you to like show them everything you can do
00:23:58I actually have no idea what's going on with Victoria but this design competition
00:24:05is extremely hard and some people might question who they are as a designer and who they are as a
00:24:11person I feel bad for her honestly like even if it's more a line or more something else that makes
00:24:18it a little bit different but still you no I promise we'll be okay it's gonna look amazing
00:24:23look amazing no amazing I can't promise nobody you want it to be amazing right I want but let's be
00:24:29honest life is cruel okay sorry I have to be faster than I was ever in my life all right guys that was
00:24:40quite a walkthrough I'm sweating I'll see you in a little bit for our model fitting okay okay cool so like
00:24:48crazy wow bye one day challenges trying to whoop your ass but it ain't gonna defeat me yeah I think
00:25:00you should do a crop top I'm gonna do a crop top I just have to wrap my brain around it she's gonna
00:25:04be young and youthful when she comes down the wrong way should be one or the other hearing christian's
00:25:11critique I need to pivot so instead of making a very billowy flared dress I'm going to make a jacket
00:25:19with an organza skirt and I'm going to attach the sleeves from the original design to this like blazer
00:25:24trench coat oh Jesus you're absolutely going to have good and bad days in life you have to keep your head
00:25:33up and remember these moments because they only make you wiser it's okay it's all good in high school
00:25:40I had to kind of take over parenting for my brothers that was very hard at 14 years old still a child
00:25:46myself raising children a lot of sacrifice that type of sacrifice I know sets me apart from other
00:25:52people and I know I can do this so much top stitching what's your fabric hard stuff I've combined mesh with
00:26:03a chiffon fabric yeah but this is like where I'm comfortable when you combine silk chiffon with
00:26:09a mesh dotted overlay you really don't need to put a lining in because the fabrication is going to
00:26:15trick the eye into thinking that you're naked I don't think the other designers are taking their
00:26:21designs as technically advanced as I am I'm on a different level cheers
00:26:28well it's not the most pretty sleeve I've ever put in but I don't care if you don't see it it
00:26:39doesn't count right see watch do you see any imperfections let me see no you don't it's all good
00:26:47let me see it no are you judging me a judge for my sleigh
00:26:52oh god
00:27:01hi guys hi lots has changed already you guys are gonna have 30 minutes with your models here they come
00:27:08um hi my love i see glitter on over your face yes i'm trying to drape these titties right hello hello
00:27:18hey boo jeffrey what what's gonna happen here what do you mean bra no bra she's
00:27:24she's face to match my skin i'm fine with it okay and then um yeah on the sheer skirt we're gonna
00:27:29do an inner panel that just kind of covers stuff but she's down for sheer sheer sheer sheer which is
00:27:34great because that's the challenge love it with these four without cute little leotard you need
00:27:41that piece not really it's so beautiful on its own don't get crazy you feel comfortable i love the big
00:27:48sleeves like good hello hello it's not very sheer but i used sheer but you don't see any of her skin
00:28:01yes but my english is not so good to understand what is sheer what is sheer but you know what oh
00:28:08victoria not understanding the challenge i don't know that i buy it because it was explained properly
00:28:16and carly was wearing sheer on the runway well now you know so make it more sheer yes but i cut
00:28:23everything i have only that one but look here but i'm using i'll use on this side okay all right
00:28:36jeffrey is forever outside i don't know what he does outside smoke break no he's like fitting outside
00:28:42it's like 100 degrees out this one i was just i was so stumped and i've been wanting to do black and white
00:28:47and jewel tone so we're in a fitting oh just in a fitting yeah oh we're like in paris and like
00:28:54just hanging we're in brooklyn yeah exactly so uh-huh must be nice

00:29:18see you tomorrow yeah bye thank you thank you all right guys you have until the end of tonight
00:29:27good luck i'll see you for the runway but guys i actually think it's gonna be really fabulous i'm
00:29:33excited yeah i never want to see any sheer again nice sergio i love a good fringe moment she fringy
00:29:48that's for sure what are you working on please don't ask me okay
00:29:53everything is wrong i i can't do this
00:30:08vergonya i'm i'm leaving
00:30:15it's it's bad i mean i don't have enough time i don't have fabric for me it's better to
00:30:20live than to be on the bottom because of this word sheer everything is
00:30:33i think she's gonna quit
00:30:40coming up i wake up almost every day and want to quit i'm not gonna quit when things get hard the sheer
00:30:46joy of it all
00:30:51i decided to leave why please don't quit you're way too good to quit no christian
00:30:57it's not sheer we have time to fix it we have two hours tonight two hours tomorrow for me it's better
00:31:03to go my i'm too i'm too tired you can't quit you just gotta finish you're gonna ask around victoria
00:31:12you have to go on the runway and you have to show something for me it's better to go home by myself
00:31:16than for them to send me no no no no you decide for me sorry no i understand what you're saying
00:31:23so much but that's not the way that a competition works it kind of pisses me off because i know a lot
00:31:29of talented people that were here and are now gone i like victoria a lot and i want her to stay and
00:31:36compete because i think she's super super talented but also i came here to compete against the best
00:31:42and if the best leaves then i don't feel like i've earned my spot if i make it to the end i have four
00:31:49hours it doesn't matter you could start over in four hours no yes i've seen you i'm so tired i can't do
00:31:56nothing now you're tired we all are tired babe i promise you i can barely keep my eyes open right
00:32:04right i wake up almost every day and want to quit because of how hard it is and how tired i am and
00:32:09how draining this is but you cannot quit there's nothing wrong with you you have no physical ailment
00:32:14you can continue this competition if you go home tomorrow you go home but you have to finish because
00:32:19you're very talented just take like 30 minutes and just breathe deep and then when you're ready
00:32:25come in there just don't decide yet okay this is this was a little psycho honestly she is like the
00:32:41least of my concerns right now at this point i don't really know what's going on with victoria i can't
00:32:47waste any more time on her i've pivoted my designs i'm trying to focus on that for the love of the lord
00:32:53just keep going yeah marquise that is the way to come back i love the print imperfections won't
00:33:01be hidden like a mug don't let brandon see
00:33:12i wonder why victoria said her ain't sheer that is sheer i think she's just really hard on herself but
00:33:18i mean it doesn't make it any different than us there's things that i've sent down that runway that i'm
00:33:22mortified about but like i'm not just not going to quit when things get hard
00:33:28hey guys we have 30 minutes left
00:33:39after sitting and thinking i understand that i can't give up
00:33:49thinking of my husband i know that he will tell me to not quit he's my best friend my partner my
00:33:56investor he's he's everything for me in moldova we didn't have any money any idea of business and when
00:34:04i said to him that we have to open the store he trusted me and i was surprised that we sold like
00:34:10200 pieces in one day but he wasn't because he really believed so much in my talent for me is very
00:34:16important to this competition because i do all this for him
00:34:27all right guys it's time to go
00:34:29good old-fashioned pb and j and white bread
00:34:41i'm happy
00:34:56yeah you excited about today you got two and a half hours and i know you can pull it off because
00:35:03you work incredibly fast yes but this will be the most horrible dress in my life
00:35:09at least you're here and you didn't quit the competition that would have been really sad for
00:35:13everyone guys it's runway day y'all ready yeah look at my little masterpiece
00:35:31hi everybody good morning guys the sheer joy of it all aren't we in a great mood yes
00:35:38yeah i really sounded like it all right guys you have two and a half hours before the show starts
00:35:43bottles anyone yeah they're here for you hi hi the dress is to die for i don't have nothing but
00:35:52because yesterday i decided to quit so now i started the dress from almost scratch it's a long
00:36:01it's quite nice
00:36:05i might take it in just a little here and there but it looks really good
00:36:08i have like 50 pieces of small sheer fabric so i'm thinking to do weaving for my top i have to be
00:36:18super fast hello hello how are you doing good this is all i have does that mean you're mad at me
00:36:28all right all right i'll leave you what are you gonna do with the nipple situation a little pasty
00:36:36stitch just so you won't see not the nipple but the breast i definitely feel like i've gotten out of
00:36:44my head a bit i love this look it's sheer it's editorial and i've somehow pulled it off all right
00:36:50guys when you're ready take your models to the maybelline makeup studio and the tresemme hair salon all
00:36:54right okay if you could give her yeah we have like an amazing mascara though make her look like she
00:37:05has false eyelashes on okay awesome mascara we're gonna need red lip and makeup i love this lipstick red
00:37:16for me honestly looks good on everyone great hey guys we have 35 minutes
00:37:30hey nance i'm at your service okay i got these they were all like the things put on here
00:37:35do you want me to trim the loose hairs okay yes sergio has become such a great supporter of my work
00:37:42he believes in me and it's great to have an ally somebody behind you because we all need that
00:37:48appreciate your help oh you're welcome it's pretty tight can you move at all no the pencil miniskirt
00:37:56because it's organza it has to fit perfectly or it'll just rise up on her body all right i'm gonna
00:38:04extend the skirt leave you in the nude and that's it if they say something they'll just say something
00:38:14but it'll be first time i'm on bottom all right designers that's time let's grab your kits and we're
00:38:20gonna head to the runway okay okay come on nancy all right designers 10 minutes looks great
00:38:34that lip color is everything thank you so much for your patience of course usually i don't do bad
00:38:41stuff the dress is finished but the execution is bad that's it i'm done all right guys that's time
00:38:50coming up this industry is not for babies i don't want to hear any more excuses from you
00:38:55so much here hi designers welcome back to the runway look at fine well hello hello whether you're
00:39:11designing to conceal or reveal some things never change one day you're in and the next day you're out
00:39:18please say hello to your fabulous judges fashion designer brandon maxwell journalist elaine welteroff
00:39:27editor-in-chief of el magazine muni garcia and your guest judge model and activist paloma el cesser
00:39:36she's today's beauty icon has appeared on many vogue covers and has fronted campaigns for pat mcgrath
00:39:42glossier and fenty hi marquis hello how's it feel to be back it feels amazing judges as you see day
00:39:52young is not with us she had to leave the competition for health reasons but we have marquise back with us
00:40:01thank you we'll be scoring your designs as they come down the runway and we can't wait to see how
00:40:06you've embraced sheer let's start the show
00:40:28nora looks perfect the movement of the fringe is so romantic on the runway
00:40:32is that you want i think it was perfect
00:40:45i did my best work and hopefully they see that
00:41:02i'm just proud of what i've done with sheer fabric
00:41:10i created such a feminine garment that's editorial
00:41:16i definitely feel like i'm a top look
00:41:32i'm feeling pretty excited to see my look come down the runway it's flowing like i intended it to
00:41:48do you see our curves fully this look is definitely showing the judges why they shouldn't have sent me
00:41:55home last week
00:41:56this look is very much my aesthetic it's loud it's bold it's sheer it's edgy
00:42:26all the things editorials are made of
00:42:31i think i nailed the sheer challenge and i'm hoping the judges agree
00:42:42the garment is
00:42:52the garment is sophisticated it's modern in this sleeve but it's not exactly what i intended
00:43:00i wish i had a little bit more time to really really bring it to life but i'm trying to be as optimistic as
00:43:14possible about it
00:43:27i think this look truly represents me as a designer
00:43:37fabrication unique seeming elegance this is not a bottom look
00:43:43i don't want to look at it
00:44:00it doesn't have nothing from my aesthetic the quality that i used to do
00:44:12i am embarrassed
00:44:13i think i have a good chance of being on top it's flowing nicely
00:44:38you and it's playing in it everything she doesn't want to show it's not shown
00:44:45she looks young and beautiful
00:45:00designers
00:45:01it was clear to us that this was a one day challenge some of you rose to the occasion
00:45:08and some of you did not only one of you can be the winner of this challenge
00:45:13and one of you will be out
00:45:21designers we've scored your designs
00:45:23britney and delvin you are safe and you can head to the lounge
00:45:31if i did not call your name please step up to the runway
00:45:38what
00:45:43that means that either jeffrey won this or sergio probably won
00:45:46what's the i'm pretty sure the bottom is consisting of
00:45:53victoria chelsea marquise
00:45:56let's bring out your mom
00:46:04the six of you represent the highest and the lowest scores only one of you can be the winner of this
00:46:10challenge and one of you will be out
00:46:14chelsea
00:46:16can you tell us about your sheer look this is the pivot of the original design which was a
00:46:22strapless flared and billowy blue chiffon dress after the critique christian mentioned celebrate
00:46:28women's bodies so i chose to go into a more fitted jacket style approach and the sleeves were always
00:46:35part of the plan yes why did you go with a nude slip and not make one in the blue to match your bra
00:46:45i've attempted to make the skirt and it was too tight and i just i ran out of time
00:46:50are we calling that a bra chelsea i mean it's a bralette
00:46:55is the bralette made out of the ribbon yes
00:47:00it's all strips of it sewn together i was waiting for a nip slip at any moment
00:47:05yeah talk to me about why you chose this fabric i chose organza because it has more strength
00:47:11unfortunately i think the fabric choice was wrong there was no fluidity to this look on the runway
00:47:17it was not unfortunately editorial i think you could have made it editorial though if you would
00:47:21have cut those arms off okay i think it's really important to understand the nuance of celebrating a
00:47:26woman's body and sheerness and not covering up because there's so many different ways to do that
00:47:32than sending down a shirt mini trench yeah all right nancy will you tell us about your look
00:47:39dd had never been to the prom so when we collaborated dd had fantasized about a long
00:47:44long dress in black dd how do you feel i feel amazing just to get up close yeah
00:47:55oh and there's a pocket two pockets yes all in this sheer organza and whatever i had left of this
00:48:02i cut it in strips and did a zero waste and made a part of my weaving and zero waste wow yes
00:48:09yes so gorgeous nancy let's start with the drama the drama of the shoulder was everything it feels
00:48:20very editorial i could see it on the pages about magazine i'm honored and humbled thank you
00:48:27let me find out nancy just won this challenge oh jesus peter mary and joseph nancy was really
00:48:32beautiful duty you look fierce it looks expensive and i most of all love the zero waste element i'm
00:48:39like really really impressed today by you i'm glad to see your model's body so thank you for incorporating
00:48:47the notes from the last couple of weeks i like that there was an edge to this while also this feeling
00:48:54of old glamour this felt like you were taking me somewhere that i wanted to be thank you appreciate
00:49:01it thank you nancy thank you marquis will you tell us about your look so this one is for dayong i'm sad
00:49:08to see her go but it gave me another opportunity to show a different side of myself marquis god i love
00:49:14a second chance love it i really will commend you on making something beautiful and finding the strength
00:49:22within yourself having gone home and then coming right back in and fighting to get to the top
00:49:27wait i'm sorry what like he's on the top
00:49:32marquis what's the fabric so i'll use this burnout font i just wanted to give her like an elegant flow
00:49:38as she's walking down the runway you look beautiful i thought that you really honored her body and i could
00:49:44tell that you were comfortable not wearing a bra and i really loved what you did with the top the lion
00:49:50covers any other revealing part and then the shoulder gives a nice like elegance thank you
00:49:56will you tell me about your t-shirt did you make that yeah so with the extra fabric i decided to
00:50:01just make me a t-shirt to match her i love the fact that you incorporated you and her together
00:50:08because you really have a good sense of style i want to see more of that got it thank you marquis
00:50:14jeffrey will you tell us about your sheer look i really wanted to push a color palette of black and
00:50:20white and a bright color blue and because it was a sheer challenge i wanted to do a chiffon it's
00:50:26exactly what i wanted it's exactly what i sketched and it's very me and i'm just hoping it's not a bottom
00:50:31look i'm sorry jeffrey like it is one of our bottom looks i couldn't take my eyes off of how sheer it was
00:50:39in the bust i didn't understand why that was a decision that you explicitly made yeah i mean
00:50:45she was comfortable with her breasts and i i love breasts i think they're you know a beautiful part of
00:50:51a woman's body i also love breasts i love the female body i think that there's a way to um maybe i love
00:50:59breasts is inappropriate i can see the memes yeah it is okay neither one of us let's say it yeah
00:51:06people probably think i'm straight um anyways you did so much of a waist there yeah and you did so
00:51:11much of a shoulder that everything else in between felt we were like swimming in a place i was trying
00:51:16to celebrate movement but i mean i see your point it's just a lot of like flow and then tight yeah
00:51:23i'm curious who is the customer that you designed for i do a lot of like celebrity sort of stage wear
00:51:29it's a very fearless woman ferocious i appreciate what the context is that you're giving for this piece
00:51:35makes me like it more i think you are a model of what it means to stand behind your design and it
00:51:41makes me respect you more as a designer jeffrey thank you so much sergio will you tell us about your look
00:51:50so she actually told me about her engagement story she's german and she married a chinese american man
00:51:57and so i wanted to convey that she was in this amazing sanctuary in china with cherry blossoms at
00:52:04night with her husband and it's raining i'm just gonna take a look closer
00:52:08it's gorgeous
00:52:20sergio head to toe she looks perfect she has best hair and makeup she's ever had the fact that you in a
00:52:27one-day challenge went for the tailored garment i think from mars you could see that it's a well-made
00:52:36garment i'm not disagreeing i just think that the place of the fringe is all i can look at right now
00:52:43is it chiffon and mesh it's burnout chiffon with a dotted mesh on top it is so strategically placed
00:52:50that you cannot even see that she is absolutely naked underneath this dress this dress could be worn
00:53:00by every model in this show and that's really special thank you thank you sergio victoria can you
00:53:07tell us about your look i don't consider for this to be a garment i made it today all my problems starts
00:53:14from my bad english and before this challenge i didn't know what sheer means i panicked and i decided
00:53:24to quit you decided to quit yes it's disheartening to hear you say that you were contemplating quitting
00:53:31because this competition is so important for me i'm very ashamed
00:53:41victoria it's disheartening to hear you say that you were contemplating quitting because this competition
00:53:46is so important for me i'm very ashamed i never ever in my life made something so bad victoria if you
00:53:57don't think every person up here has had a failure that was public you will be wrong this industry is not
00:54:06for babies the difference between a good designer and a great forever designer is someone who can look deep
00:54:16within themselves and get up and fight yes victoria we all have had moments of complete failure and self-doubt
00:54:24but it's in those moments that define you i had two options to be on the bottom or to quit by myself
00:54:31quitting is quitting your dream i'm not a great person at all i don't want to hear any more excuses
00:54:37from you put your big girl panties on and make lemons out of lemonade with your lemonade colored dress
00:54:43believe in yourself and let's move on and let's talk about the garment
00:54:46first of all i thought that the color choice was really refreshing your model's body was celebrated
00:54:53in this garment in not in the sense that like we could see through it but when she walked down
00:54:57the runway all i could think was damn her body is banging oh victoria it does look like you did it
00:55:04in two and a half hours you've scrambled on the hem it's misaligned but i do think that there's something
00:55:12very feminine and interesting the lesson here is more important i want all of you to find that inner
00:55:20strength to propel you to accomplish whatever dream that is that you guys have nina is right there are
00:55:27eight of you up here now right which means that you're all pretty great you are going to have days
00:55:34that are just full-on you've got to push through that is when you find out what you're made of
00:55:40thank you designers we've got a decision to make and we'll call you back when we're ready thank you
00:55:47you can head back to the lounge
00:55:55this is the most confusing challenge i didn't understand the very taste for this challenge it's
00:56:09good to receive critical feedback it's really good for the soul i didn't like it i think we should start
00:56:15with some positive things please marquise showed up his look had a lot of dimension and really played
00:56:23with her silhouette and her figure i really loved seeing that when i love a comeback story like we
00:56:28love the comeback congratulations marquis thank you welcome back in such an impactful way i'm so proud
00:56:35of you thank you buddy it was a shocker i think ultimately sergio and nancy constructed beautiful
00:56:42garments from the inside out and for me that's the reason why those two are set apart from marquis
00:56:48nancy's on a personal level speaks to me a little bit more i felt that she and dd really represented
00:56:56and it was super editorial you know i was really proud of nancy today she proved that she has both the
00:57:02chops as a technical designer and also a cool factor that does feel very relevant and very right now i
00:57:09really do appreciate a pocket and a ball gown totally i would love wearing that and be able to
00:57:14put my hands in my pockets walking down the red carpet what nancy did with the shoulder piece was
00:57:20very editorial but i still think that so is sergio's when it comes down to construction sergio's tailoring
00:57:29is just it was so much better frankly than nancy's initially i wasn't crazy about where all of that
00:57:35fringe was hanging but when she moved it took my breath away i thought that dress was lined the
00:57:41execution was so perfect now on a less positive note we got to talk about who is going home today
00:57:51okay i'm just gonna say this off the bat i think jeffrey it wasn't my personal taste level and i'm not
00:57:57sure that it was the most flattering when she was walking but it was well made while the other two looked
00:58:01like they went through a paper shredder before they hit the runway and jeffrey's look was highly
00:58:05editorial i happen to like it i'm not mad at jeffrey's look at all i literally would not be
00:58:12caught dead in the other two yeah so between chelsea and victoria who's going home i think chelsea
00:58:19really ran out of time and ran out of ideas i cannot argue that chelsea is editorial because it isn't yeah
00:58:26a spandex skirt and then like a weird banana hammock bra you're actually scared that the
00:58:33model's gonna lose her under pit yeah the lining that goes on the side the pocket went over that
00:58:41line it was just cuckoo bananas yeah let's take a look at victoria's and then victoria had a real
00:58:50dramatic 11 hours of this challenge she was able to have her model covered and walk down the runway
00:58:58respectfully dressed even though it was not the best design but at least it was better tailoring
00:59:07she clearly went off the deep end for this one day challenge but you can't just give up the sob story
00:59:15really left a sour taste in my mouth i feel that there was a sense of humility lacking in how she
00:59:22told us that came to be i think everybody's going to be safe christian's going to use this safe we'll see
00:59:28you
00:59:38sergio marquise and nancy you guys created editorial looks that celebrated the female form and truly
00:59:48embraced sheer fabrics marquise you are in you can leave the runway thank you guys thank you welcome
00:59:57back thank you sergio and nancy one of you will be the winner of this challenge
01:00:06sergio you are the winner and you have won the last immunity of this competition congratulations thank
01:00:15you guys nancy you are also thank you so much thank you thank you guys thank you good luck guys come on
01:00:24nancy i'm so proud i'm so proud to be standing side by side with you it's spectacular winning this
01:00:31challenge finally after several weeks i'm back on top where i should be who of course
01:00:38it's it i think we all knew it i know i think this sends a message to the other designers that i can win
01:00:46this entire competition i know what i'm doing
01:00:55jeffrey chelsea and victoria one of you will be out
01:01:01jeffrey you are in thank you you can leave the runway good luck luck thank you guys
01:01:18chelsea you made multiple poor design choices and we could see every technical flaw in your look
01:01:26victoria your struggles with this challenge showed in both your construction and your attitude on the runway
01:01:42victoria you are in chelsea i'm sorry that means you're out okay victoria when you stood up here today
01:01:54you had all but given up and i just want you to know you have been saved today but you need to save
01:02:01yourself thank you victoria you can leave the runway thank you so much thank you so much
01:02:13thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you
01:02:21are you safe yes
01:02:31chelsea what it came down to today was two women that we love very much that just ultimately had
01:02:37a bad day and it was what was the worst of the two evils in terms of finished garments i do not think
01:02:44that that takes away from your talent we were very proud to have you here i enjoyed it very much and
01:02:49we're looking forward to seeing you in the future thank you so much i appreciate that and take all of
01:02:53your feedback it pains all of us to see you go especially my st louis sister i know thank you for
01:03:03being with us thank you guys
01:03:04us i was not necessarily 150 percent proud of what i presented today but i'm surprised that i'm going
01:03:20home because victoria just quit yesterday please don't cry it is not ready to break down
01:03:29it's my time to go home and i'm not mad about that i fell short
