00:00Hello and good morning to you.
00:02So you may have heard that things are warming up this weekend, and that is true for some
00:06of us, but not for everyone this weekend.
00:09So first of all we have this area of low pressure pushed in on a strong westerly jet stream
00:13across the northern half of the UK.
00:16Strong isobars there, it's going to be quite a windy start to the weekend.
00:19Elsewhere though we do start to see high pressure build and it will turn warmer for the second
00:24half of the weekend, particularly across southern and eastern parts as that high pressure builds
00:28but through the weekend it will be turning warmer.
00:32Back to this morning though, so for many it's going to be a dry and bright start today, particularly
00:37for eastern England.
00:38But we have this cold front moving its way southeast and during the morning it could be quite heavy
00:43as well.
00:44It starts to break up by the time we head into the early afternoon.
00:47North Wales and northern England will be mostly just a scattering of showers.
00:51Behind it as well we've got cooler air and blustery showers moving in, particularly across
00:55north-western parts of Scotland, but further south, ahead of this frontal system, plenty
01:00of sunshine around and it will be feeling quite warm in that sunshine.
01:05Best of that will be across the south-eastern part of England, 26 or 27 degrees could be
01:10reached on Saturday.
01:11But it's going to be fairly breezy, notice on the western coast those temperatures are
01:14down a touch, 18 to 20 degrees on the western coast of Wales and across northern parts of
01:19Scotland, 17 to 19 degrees, and here with those strong winds it's going to be certainly feeling
01:24a little bit cooler in those locations.
01:28Heading through the rest of Saturday then, so for most places, much of that cloud and
01:32rain begins to break away and in most places we'll see quite a clear night Saturday in towards
01:36Sunday morning.
01:38Winds begin to lighten as well and there may still be a breeze and a few showers across
01:41north-western Scotland, but most places will be starting Sunday with something drier and
01:47calmer.
01:48And with those clear skies and light winds it will be a touch cooler as well, we could
01:52even get down to single degrees in some rural spots, but on the whole about 11 to 13 degrees
01:57for most places to start on Sunday.
02:01Moving through the rest of Sunday then, so plenty of places under the influence of that
02:05high pressure are going to be seeing sunny skies and light winds, particularly across England
02:10and Wales.
02:11Northern Ireland initially seeing some sunshine before cloud begins to thicken from the west
02:15as the frontal system approaches and although there'll be some cloud and some showers and
02:19some breezy conditions on north-west Scotland, it'll certainly be feeling a lot better than
02:23it has been for the last couple of days.
02:26So what are the temperatures looking like on Sunday then?
02:28So again, a similar picture, 17 to 19 degrees across parts of Scotland and again, similarly
02:33cool down the far west coast of Wales.
02:36But inland and in those central parts, particularly near London, we could see 26 or maybe even
02:4127 degrees on Sunday as well.
02:46As we head through the rest of the weekend then, what will we see into the start of the
02:51new working week?
02:52It does look like we're going to see warmer conditions, so if you want to catch any more
