Self-described Pulp megafans Ellie and Joseph give their review of Sheffield homecoming at Tramlines 2025.
Transcript
00:00We're here today in Sheffield for the second day of Tramlines, the night after
00:03Pulp performed their homecoming gig and I'm here with... Ellie. Joseph. And we're
00:09gonna weigh in on their opinions. So firstly are you guys big fans of Pulp
00:12or have you never heard of them before? Yeah. Ginormous. I love Pulp. Yeah I mean I've always played
00:21light since I was little. Yeah I've been listening to Pulp. And obviously if you're a big fan this
00:26would have had a big build-up for you. Did it live up to expectations? Did it
00:29exceed them? It was very good. We were looking for... because it's as you say
00:33homecoming gig so looking for it being like pretty... he was quite heartfelt at the
00:38end he goes we always get quite nervous playing at Sheffield because it's like you
00:41know the home gig but he was like you've made us feel right at home here and he
00:45chucked a lot of grapes so he must have quite liked us. Yeah definitely because we
00:48were discussing before kind of his stage presence it was a bit mental wasn't it?
00:51Yeah I mean chocolates you know Jarvis Cooker is Jarvis Cooker isn't he? Yeah and he lived up to that.
00:58And what was your guy's favorite song from the set? Do you remember?
01:02Babies. Babies was very good. I would say that's a very like classic summer song but
01:06he did Miss Misfits? No Miss Shapes from the the first song of Different Class and I was
01:14glad he played that because he that went off the setlist that wasn't on the setlist
01:18and he goes he looked back and he goes do you guys know about this and that to his
01:22band and he goes oh do you know about this? Yeah no definitely I remember that bit I
01:26didn't realize it wasn't on the setlist and then obviously well for me anyway
01:29the people behind me were constantly cheering for common people so what did
01:33you think when that finally came on obviously that's the classic. That was
01:36well he didn't he didn't do like he kind of just said we're gonna play it now
01:40like there was no kind of massive build-up for this ginormous song that everyone was waiting for.
01:44Yeah but it's the expectation isn't it? Yeah yeah. He's gonna finish with that one.
01:47I enjoyed when you said about people behind us I enjoyed the mix of like there was you know
01:52older people have grown up with pulp and also like people kind of our age that you know have
01:56re-found pulp through probably parents or like you know older generations. I thought it was quite a
02:00good mix of that that you know there was people who were there like reliving their youth and then
02:06just people that were like like this is it now this is pulp now. Yeah definitely and how does that set
02:12up for your weekend now? Are you excited for what's to come for the rest of the weekend?
02:15Yeah. I mean he's a massive fan of CMAT so tomorrow will be the big day for him. I cannot wait for CMAT.
02:23I am very excited for that. Natasha Bedingfield today though and Rizzle Kicks is gonna be that's
02:28gonna be the party. And the ratings. And the ratings. Yeah yeah. And Franz Ferdinand.
02:33Yeah come on. It's an insane lineup. I know. It was mental when we booked it we were like that's
02:38actually great there's quite a good and last dinner party tomorrow and that's gonna be very good.
02:44I'm excited for that. So thanks Tramlines!
