Transcript
00:00Right then, hi it's Chris again from the Star Sheffield and today I'm speaking to
00:06the lovely chaps from the Sheffield indie group the Rosadox. Would you mind
00:12introducing yourselves and we'll kind of just crack in.
00:16I'm Joe, I play guitar.
00:20I'm Keelan, I'm the singer.
00:23And I'm Callum and I play drums.
00:26Alright then, lovely and I'm Chris and I don't do any of that.
00:31Don't worry, I brought me sticks though.
00:35So anyways, let's kind of like crack into it.
00:38So Rosadox, I spoke with yourself a couple of years ago now.
00:41This was just before you did the Meadowlands gig.
00:44Is that what it was?
00:45Yeah, it was, yeah. We were talking about you performing tramlines.
00:49Is this your first time performing?
00:51It's your fifth.
00:53I think we've done three on library, haven't we?
00:55Yeah, yes.
00:56Ah, agreed.
00:58Right then.
00:59So, yeah, you're back again.
01:02What stage are you performing on?
01:04So it's the biggest one we've ever done yet.
01:05It's the Lead Mill stage.
01:07Okay.
01:08I was speaking with Daisy Peacock earlier.
01:10She did the Lead Mill stage a bit earlier on today.
01:12Nice.
01:13Nice little vibe on there.
01:14I'll come down and see you.
01:16You'll be hearing me heckling from the back.
01:18Probably choking because I haven't had a drink yet today.
01:21I've got a voice like...
01:22We can fix that.
01:23...like Doc Branning.
01:26So, yeah, you guys have recently released a new EP.
01:30Yes.
01:31Tell us all about it.
01:32Yeah, so it's called The City's No Good for Reflection.
01:34We basically wrote it about Sheffield, about living a life in a city.
01:38Yeah.
01:39And sort of the strife that you can go through doing that, but also the revelation of having
01:44friends, having relationships, stuff like that.
01:46And it came together almost as a conceptual piece after the fact of writing the songs.
01:51Wicked.
01:52Yeah, so we're really proud of it.
01:53It's done very, very well for us so far.
01:55That had the lead single, A Cross To Bear.
01:57So the lead single was Bittersweet.
01:59Bittersweet.
02:00But one of the biggest tracks off it ended up being A Cross To Bear.
02:03Because it's a song that's just connected with people at every single show we've done
02:07for the last two years.
02:08Okay.
02:09And what started out as just a personal little ballad has literally just taken on their
02:13new life at the live shows.
02:15Excellent.
02:16central point.
02:17I look a bit like a mountain.
02:18It's not official unless I reach across it.
02:21It's almost like a mountain and the way it rises that AP and it's like A Cross To Bear
02:26is just that pinnacle.
02:27Yeah.
02:28It's like an epiphany of sorts.
02:29Emotional climate.
02:30Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:31A lyrical epiphany.
02:32I like it.
02:33It's all downhill after.
02:34I mean, currently we're in the Wednesday ground, aren't we?
02:39So it's not been a great time there.
02:41So speaking of downhill, hopefully it's uphill again soon though.
02:44And you guys have been touring recently.
02:47So tell us about the tour.
02:49Yeah, we've been all over, haven't we?
02:51We did one of the biggest gigs we've ever done in London, which were really nice.
02:55Whereabouts?
02:56We made Camden Assembly.
02:58Oh, it's good down there.
02:59It's kind of nice.
03:00Obviously we're used to being lucky enough for people to turn up and see us in Sheffield,
03:04which we're very grateful for.
03:06And kind of going and seeing more people jumping onto us in these other cities
03:09has been a real kind of turning point thing for us this year.
03:12Yeah, this year it's really taken a step up.
03:15Yeah.
03:16Everywhere we've gone we've found that, you know, people are wearing the merch already.
03:19And we've spotted someone today, don't we?
03:21Yeah, I mean, we are in Sheffield, so, you know.
03:23But it is, it's amazing when we go to these new cities, especially sort of what they call
03:26the B-towns of, you know, areas that aren't the major cities.
03:29Yeah.
03:30We go and people are, you know, the venues are selling out.
03:31It's amazing.
03:32Yeah.
03:33That's good.
03:34Sold-out gig in Undersfield.
03:35Yeah.
03:36Lovely.
03:37Keep it Yorkshire.
03:38Yeah.
03:39Lovely stuff.
03:40And, like I said, you're in the middle of your kind of like festival circuit.
03:44So, what have you got coming up next after today?
03:47So, Tramline's today and then we're in Cheshire tomorrow.
03:50Yep.
03:51Is that all together again festival?
03:52All together again.
03:53Together again.
03:54Together again festival.
03:55Yep.
03:56UV40 on that.
03:57Bit of red wine.
03:58Oh, yeah.
03:59Yeah, yeah.
04:00So, we've got that tomorrow.
04:01Is it the original front man?
04:02Yeah.
04:03I don't know.
04:04It's his brother, isn't it?
04:05Yeah.
04:06Oh, is it?
04:07Is it?
04:08Yeah.
04:09And then we're, where are we next?
04:10I mean, we're, so August is absolutely busy.
04:13I think it's packed.
04:14It's packed.
04:15Norwich.
04:16Norwich, I think.
04:17Norwich for Rock and Roll Circus with the Cortinas.
04:19Yep.
04:20Then Hardwick Festival after that.
04:21And then after that we're off to come together festival where we're playing with the Cortinas
04:26and Kings of Leon.
04:27Yep.
04:28And then the day after we're at Victoria.
04:29Will the Kings of Leon be performing again?
04:30Yes.
04:31Because St. Caleb, he broke his foot with it.
04:33He broke his foot.
04:34Yeah.
04:35He's able to play.
04:36Oh, fantastic.
04:37Yeah.
04:38I think it was the June and July days that they had to cancel.
04:40Yeah.
04:41It should have already happened to it.
04:42So, I remember seeing them at Reading.
04:44Gosh, it must have been like 13 years ago.
04:47Oh, really?
04:48Actually, 14 years ago.
04:50It was like Sex is on Fire time.
04:51Yeah.
04:52Sex on Fire.
04:53And it was phenomenal.
04:55It was like, it was him.
04:56Well, it was him.
04:57It was them.
04:58It was Radiohead.
04:59Oh.
05:00Nice.
05:01Arctic Monkeys, I think, were there as well.
05:02Nice.
05:03So, it was a good year.
05:04And that was the, remember LaRue?
05:06Yeah.
05:07Yeah.
05:08Bulletproof.
05:09Bulletproof.
05:10Yeah.
05:11Yeah.
05:12Yeah.
05:13She was on the small stage.
05:14Oh, really?
05:15It was a belter, that was.
05:16But anyways, enough about those guys.
05:17We don't care about them.
05:18We're all about you.
05:19It's all about the Rosadocs.
05:20So, EP's out now.
05:21You can get it on all streaming platforms or you can buy it where?

05:27You can buy it physically.

05:29We've got CDs out.
05:30T-shirts.

05:35Wicked.
05:36That's a little plug there.
05:37I'll be getting my commission from that.
05:39Yeah.
05:40There's a solid 2% coming in there.
05:41Do you know what?
05:42It costs a living, crisis.
05:43I'll take it.
05:45Thank you very much, guys.

05:47It's a pleasure.

05:54Absolutely.
05:55So, it was Warren Chuff Media who saw it out before.
06:03But I think I've got your number.
06:04Yeah, you have your number.
