00:00Good evening sir, my name is Pregna, third year BTEC civil engineering.
00:08So my question is how to make effective use of time and what should I do to get less distracted?
00:15So I spend so much time on mobile phone and I use social media a lot.
00:20If I get a notification sound, I'll immediately pick up my phone and I'll check that I get
00:26distracted very easily.
00:28So could you please throw some light on this, how can I be less distracted?
00:35Mute the notifications.
00:45See what's wrong with the mobile phone, if you're doing something important on the mobile
00:48phone, it's alright to be glued to the phone.
00:53What are you doing on the phone, that's the question.
00:55I'll listen to online classes on the mobile phone but at the same time when I get a notification,
01:03I'll open that.
01:04No, no.
01:05What are those notifications about?
01:09They may be WhatsApp message or on Instagram.
01:16Right.
01:17So what are those WhatsApp messages about?
01:19They are from friends.
01:22What are your friends about?
01:32If you want to avoid their messages, maybe your friends are avoidable.
01:35then that's the real problem, not the phone.
01:40Your phone is only bringing the reality of your company and contacts and life to you.
01:48No?
01:49That's why your phone is bringing to you.
01:54If you have not chosen your friends with care, then they will send you all kinds of crap.
02:06Right.
02:07And then you will say, I want to avoid the phone.
02:10Whereas what you need to avoid is your friends.
02:15The phone can bring great things to you.
02:18Can it not?
02:19Yes.
02:20So, there is nothing wrong with technology.
02:24So, it's we use it wrongly.
02:28We use it wrongly because we are wrong.
02:33Because we are wrong, so we have chosen our friends wrongly.
02:38And then those friends do what they will do.
02:41They keep you sending all kinds of good morning, good afternoon messages and some senseless political
02:52crap or some lewd joke and all kinds of things are there.
03:02So why are you choosing your friends the way you do?
03:07It's starting, they don't interact very much, but as a time being, we become very close handles
03:20and all.
03:21So, when they become close, they show their true colours.
03:24Right?
03:25It's not that your closeness has degraded them.
03:30When they come close, they just remove their wheels and show what they are really made of.
03:39So, it's not the closeness that is the problem.
03:43You have a knack for misidentifying the problem.
03:46Firstly, you said the phone is the problem, now you are saying closeness is the problem.
03:50How can closeness be a problem?
03:52Closeness is a wonderful thing.
03:55But it is important to be careful of what you are coming close to.
04:04Most people are acceptable and polite from a distance, are they not?
04:10That is some kind of a social obligation.
04:14The imperative is on you to identify people even from a distance.
04:25You pick up the wrong people, you let them come close to you, now they are within striking
04:29distance.
04:33Somebody is carrying a dagger or somebody has huge claws like that of a tiger.
04:44If that fellow is at a distance, you are probably safe, fortunate.
04:50You allow that person to come close, now what will happen?
04:57Long goes the dagger.
05:02So you have to be a good reader of people and that you can do only with self-awareness.
05:08When you know yourself, it becomes easy to read the other person as well because you and
05:14the other are fundamentally alike in many ways.
05:19We fail to read others because first of all we have failed in reading ourselves.
05:25That is why a spiritual orientation is extremely important, especially for young people.
05:38And even more important for young women because the way things are women have much more at stake
05:48and much more to lose if they allow the wrong kind of people to become intimate.
05:56So, young women in fact need doubly to be spiritual compared to a man, else that fellow enters
06:13your life and starts sending you crap and you are bombarded.
06:21What do you do now?
06:22You cannot even mute the notifications, you are attached.
06:24If you mute the notifications, he will probably come and knock on the door.
06:29How will you mute the door?
06:41Fall in love with the right things in life.
06:44Yours is a great age to fall in love with books.
06:49Fall in love with adventure.
06:52You are in a good campus.
06:54Why not pick up sports and try to excel?
06:59Why not learn to dance?
07:00Why not learn a musical instrument?
07:03Why not travel the country?
07:06And if you have resources, why not travel the world?
07:12If you have no resources, at least read.
07:17Nothing can bring the entire world to you.
07:20At least 80% of that.
07:25Why be so desperate for human company?
07:36I am not asking you to be a loner or avoider of human company.
07:50It says that things must be given their due place.
07:59And their due place depends on their quality.
08:04If you do not have good quality people around you, there are many other better options.
08:15Why not spend your evenings learning to swim or sing?
08:28And there could be so many other things, I mean, you would know better.
08:39Is that not infinitely better than having some random rascals around you, sending you hackneyed
08:51forwards and you are also supposed to reply with some stupid emoji.
09:00And not one would do.
09:00If you send one, they will think you are angry.
09:02So, they will pester you with a thousand other things.
09:05So, you have to one foolish joke comes to you and you have to reply with at least half a dozen
09:16emojis.
09:17And then that person's soul is satisfied.
09:22I have succeeded in destroying somebody's 10 minutes at least.
09:35And this is when somebody is sending you personal forwards.
09:43Then there is at most just one person to destroy you.
09:50God save you if you are part of a group.
09:55A group containing 142 people.
10:01And each of them first of all begins the day by saying good morning ji.
10:09And those roses.
10:14And so many animals are there.
10:18All our love for animals gets expressed on WhatsApp, that owl, that cow, that rabbit, that horse.
10:34But it beats me.
10:35How can you not mute the notifications?
10:43Just like a college, important information about college also, they will forward in WhatsApp.
10:50So, I can't.
10:52I am pretty sure your college does not spam.
10:57It would be very interesting if it does.
11:00Is it the official college group that keeps spamming?
11:05No.
11:06They would be sending things once in a while, right?
11:10Once a day or once a week.
11:15So it's not the college thing that you are talking of, let's be honest.
11:19Yeah, but I am saying that if I mute notifications, I will not get that.
11:26You can mute persons as well.
11:31That much technology even I know.
11:35And you are a generation ahead of me and still you are talking this way.
11:38What are you doing?
11:39You can even send groups to archives.
11:42You won't even see them.
11:45What do you think?
11:46I have only spiritual knowledge.
11:58The solution lies in being absorbed in something higher.
12:07Bring something good and great and beautiful to life.
12:10And all these petty distractions will vanish.
12:15You will have no time.
12:18Yes sir.
12:19Right?
12:20Yes sir.
12:21Alright.
12:22Thank you sir.
12:26Wonderful.
12:27Oh.
12:32We will have my life exile.
12:36What do you think?
12:39Yeah.
12:40We will have a leap just by now.
12:44Very good for you.
12:45Everyone we're talking up here.
12:46You have abridge movie.
12:48We will be very free.
12:49Put you in that heart.
12:50I have to decide what we will do toifiee.
12:52Sounds like, yeah.
12:52How do you know?
12:54We will be able to deal with it.
