00:00Because all offseason long, we're not talking about Bill Belichick resuscitating UNC and Bill Belichick.
00:06It's a great defensive mind coming to UNC and who they're going to get to play quarterback and make some bowl games.
00:11And maybe in a couple of years, maybe win a national championship.
00:14We're talking about Bill Belichick at ACC Media Day.
00:18And we got video of Bill Belichick.
00:20Yeah, well, I mean, the great thing about working with the college players is just the growth and development that we've seen, that I've seen with him.
00:26I saw a little bit of that last year when I was at Washington with Coach Fish and Steve out there to see how much the players improved from the spring until the start of training camp.
00:37And this year, of course, you know, we haven't started training camp yet, but through the course of the spring, the amount of improvement that our players made in those 15 days, most of which were in pads, is something that you never saw in the NFL because we never, you know, could wear pads in the offseason.
00:53And so how much better the players got in their fundamentals, their footwork, their hand placement, leverage, tackling, and so forth.
01:00You know, all the physicality things that come with different positions, whether that's press release, jams, and so forth.
01:08The improvement was tremendous.
01:11And so I'd say on the college end, you're right, the players are a little bit younger and less skilled.
01:16Sometimes that's an advantage.
01:17There are fewer bad habits to break.
01:19But I would say also the players are, I'd say, much more receptive to the coaching.
01:25They haven't had as long with the way that they were doing it, you know, through a college career, maybe even through some pro years, where they were, you know, started to develop some habits that they were comfortable with.
01:37And they were a little harder to change.
01:38I'd say, you know, with our players, they've been very receptive to everything we've asked them to do.
01:42Nah, there you go, Bill Belichick, rambling on and on and on.
01:47Can't be feisty yet with the media.
01:48He's got to win a couple rings first before he does that.
01:50But making an appearance yesterday at ACC Media Day, Joe, what do we think?
01:55I already bet the over when it came out, six and a half wins on North Carolina.
01:59I think it's up to seven and a half now, Donnie.
02:02And I'll tell you exactly why.
02:04Because he even said in that ACC Media Day as well that, make no mistake, this isn't a college – I'm not coaching a college-level program.
02:13It's a pro program, he said.
02:15Practice, training, food, terminology, schemes.
02:19I'm coaching this like it's a NFL team getting these guys ready for it, he said.
02:24So I'm not changing anything or how I coach or what I do outside of the rules being a little differently, and they'll try to take advantage of the NCAA rules as opposed to the NFL rules.
02:37Nobody was better at figuring that out than Belichick.
02:40But if I'm a kid that has any aspirations of playing in the NFL, Donnie, I'm not going to – I'm not looking at North Carolina and saying that's where I want to be.
02:50I think it's very fascinating what Belichick is doing there.
02:54Yeah, Kenan Stadium down there in Chapel Hill.
02:56You know no doubt about it, Joe, when you're in the fourth quarter, your headset's going out on the opposite sideline, and your locker room is probably going to be barged in the way we go.
03:04Because that's where we are going to bend those rules down at Carolina.
03:07Now, the interesting part, too, is Bill Belichick, outside of like his last year or two in New England, always battling for championships.
03:13Those are the expectations.
03:14I look at to win the ACC conference here, Clemson plus 110, Miami plus 370, Louisville 8-1, SMU 9-1.
03:24Georgia Tech 14-1, Duke 26-1, Florida State 29-1, NC State 43-1, Pittsburgh 43-1, North Carolina 47-1 to win the ACC.
03:36Not the national championship, the ACC championship.
03:40It's got some building to do apparent here to the odds makers, Joe.
03:43You look at that schedule, Donnie.
03:45You go game by game with North Carolina.
03:49And to me, the estimation is they're going to get better and better and better as the season goes along because that's what Belichick does, right?
03:57This is a nine-win football team.
03:59They don't have to play both Miami and Clemson this year.
04:03So why not North Carolina?
04:06Very, very favorable schedule for them.
