00:00The, um, the initial, uh, report that bill Belichick wanted the guarantee in place that

00:10his son, Stephen Belichick would be named the successor for bill when he steps away.

00:16Um, we can get to that piece of the puzzle for in a second, but the update from Ali Connelly

00:24that came out 20 minutes ago, uh, reads as follows.

00:29Belichick has agreed to become the next UNC head coach.

00:32Belichick handed the school a 400 page quote, organizational Bible with structure, payment

00:37plans, staffing choices, et cetera, decisions on whether to commit with UNC.

00:43He's expected to know their decision within 24 hours.

00:48He went on to say, um, that, uh, this will need a sign off from the ad chancellor, trustees

00:56and boosters, and that there's already been pushed back from the group of 13 trustees

01:02with input from wider faculty.

01:04The investment would overhaul the school's approach to football.

01:09Belichick unsure of the school will meet the demands and is unwilling to negotiate.

01:15Wow.

01:17Now again, not to downplay anything from Ali Connelly, um, cause every, every, every indication

01:29is that this is legit.

01:31Um, it's just, this would feel a little bit more comfortable.

01:35It came off of shafty shafty's hands, but sometimes that's how a story like this goes.

01:42And there's no reason to believe that this isn't for real.

01:47So here's my thing.

01:48I want to get to the Stephen Belichick part of this.

01:53That's a great deal for North Carolina.

01:56Stephen Belichick is a sub 40 coach, sub 40 year old coach.

02:03Okay.

02:04Who just was the defensive coordinator at big 10 Washington Huskies football and had

02:12them playing at a top 30 defense level.

02:15We know Washington was left with injuries upon injuries and, or, or transfers and NFL

02:21and all those things.

02:25I don't know.

02:28Maybe I'm nuts.

02:30I don't know if UNC would have the cache to get Stephen Belichick to take their job on

02:35their own.

02:36You know what I'm saying?

02:39Like I think Stephen Belichick is going to have juice if he wants to coach at a high

02:44level in the college game because the results are now what he just did at Washington real.

02:52We know the pedigree.

02:53We know the background.

02:54So now if you're in North Carolina, Bill Belichick comes in and you become one of the most discussed

03:06programs in college football.

03:09You have a chance at bringing in recruits at a different level and probably more importantly,

03:16the portal at a different level, all while being in a conference that is there for the

03:23take a conference that yes, it was won by Clemson again, but as we just discussed a

03:30not top 15 team, Florida state is a mess.

03:36Miami with crystal ball.

03:38I worry is one of those, ah, it'll never be good enough things to waste the season that

03:46cam ward put forward is tough to see SMU in their opening season in the ACC went on beaten

03:56in the ACC regular season.

03:59And you might say, well, that's because they didn't play that, that, that it does not matter.

04:06That's the state of the ACC.

04:09However, I will tell you this.

04:15Usually I am all for just go in.

04:19This does seem like a lot.

04:22And I understand bill wanting a lot.

04:23Like if he's going to go and offer himself up to the college game at his age, he doesn't

04:30need to.

04:31It has to be perfect.

04:35North Carolina is not a football school though.

04:40So it's a lot, but it looks like we're going to know according to the reports, whether

04:50bill Belichick is going to be the head coach of the North Carolina tar heels within the

04:56next 24 hours.
