00:00Arsenal are entering an important summer under Mikel Arteta as they look to take the final step in their evolution from contenders to champions.
00:11Having pushed the eventual winners close in the past few seasons, the Gunners are now focused on smart, decisive moves in the transfer market to close that gap at the top.
00:21Rather than engaging in wholesale changes, Arsenal are opting for a measured strategy, one that focuses on refining their already strong squad and adding quality in key areas.
00:35Arteta, alongside Sporting Director Ido, is driving a meticulous process that prioritises squad depth, flexibility and players who can thrive in high-pressure moments.
00:45We spoke to Jack Abella of London World for insight into Arsenal's approach.
00:50He explained that the move in North London is calm but ambitious, with a firm belief that the club are now operating from a position of strength.
00:59Arteta's growth influencing across recruitment and player development is central to this summer's direction.
01:06There's also a clear emphasis on eternal growth.
01:09Top players like William Saliba, Makai Osaka and Declan Rice remain at the core of the project,
01:15and the club are investing just as much into improving the current group as they are in bringing in new faces through the door.
01:23Yeah, just on the transfer window, how satisfied with the window are Arsenal fans so far?
01:31Obviously, there's plenty of time to go, but you do feel those teams who are making statements, who are getting signings in the door early,
01:38you know, even Man Utd with their terrible season, you know, they picked up Mateus Gunja within the first week or so from Wolves with a fantastic deal.
01:46They're there really for £62 million and then Arsenal haven't really made that statement yet.
01:52They have been linked to a few.
01:54So how satisfied are Arsenal fans at the moment?
01:56Is there sort of that lingering doubt because of the previous windows that have been, you know, fairly disappointing?
02:02I don't think there's doubt. I think that, you know, we've got a new sporting director, Andrea Berta, that's come in from Atletico Madrid.
02:10He's got experience of, you know, executing deals at the highest level in Europe.
02:15So I think where I would describe Arsenal feelings is maybe slight impatience rather than doubt.
02:24I mean, you know, there have been... Arsenal need to sign a striker. Everyone knows that.
02:31And we've been linked with Victor Jokerez from Sporting Lisbon and, you know, Benjamin Szczesko from RB Leipzig.
02:37And those links have been going on for a while now.
02:40And, you know, there will be Arsenal fans out there thinking, well, why don't we know who we want yet?
02:47You know, should there be a clear choice?
02:50And there are others that are saying, well, look, this could be a negotiating tactic.
02:53Arsenal need to recruit quite a lot this year.
02:56It looks like they are going to now recruit a striker, a left winger and a creative midfielder as well, the latest report.
03:04So it looks like they're going to do a lot of business.
03:06So finance is a key here.
03:10But, yeah, I would say impatience would be the first filling.
03:13I mean, a first signing nonetheless.
03:16And now Arsenal fans will be waiting for the signing of Martin Zubumendi to be confirmed.
03:21And, you know, I think Arsenal fans have been waiting for about six months.
03:24It was reported in January that a deal had been agreed.
03:28A few weeks before the window opened, you know, rumours were circulating that Real Madrid were going to try and snap him up.
03:34So they've been waiting a long time for Zubumendi.
03:35And then the exciting news for Arsenal fans now, though, is the pace in which talks have started to accelerate for players like Rodrigo for Real Madrid.
03:50You know, that is a name that's been really linked and someone that I think if you'd have said to Arsenal fans at the start of a window,
03:55you're going to be linked with a Real Madrid winger there to be quite excited by.
03:59And also Eze, you know, in the last few days, talks with Eze have been reported.
04:05So, you know, he was at Arsenal when he was younger.
04:09Arsenal fans have always said they'd like to bring Eze back.
04:13He's been a name that's, you know, been said around the discourse at the Emirates for a long time.
04:19So there are a few really exciting players there.
04:22Now it's just about when they're going to actually be executed.
04:26And I think if at the window, at the end of the window, some of those names haven't been signed,
04:32I think there'll be a bit of disappointment.
04:34But yeah, I wouldn't say Arsenal are disappointed yet.
04:37Maybe Arsenal fans are disappointed yet.
04:39Maybe just feeling a little bit impatient.
04:41But we'll see.
04:42We'll see what Andrea Berta has in store.
04:44We'll see you next time.
