During a press briefing on Wednesday, Rep. Katherine Clark (D-MA) spoke about President Trump and the Republican Party's handling of the Epstein files.
Transcript
00:00Now, my honor to yield to our whip, the Honorable Catherine Clark.
00:06Thank you, Mr. Leader. I am deeply grateful for your leadership over these last six chaotic months.
00:16And what a fitting end to these six months of Republican control in Washington.
00:22Instead of doing their jobs, instead of standing up for kids, for families, instead of standing on the side of transparency and accountability, Republicans are running away.
00:38All to avoid the release of the Epstein client list, all to cover up for pedophiles.
00:45In this hollowed out version of the Republican Party, they knock down people who work hard for a living.
00:55Their signature bill, the big, ugly bill, kicked 15 million Americans off their health insurance, takes food from 16 million kids, raises energy bills, shuts down hospitals, denies veterans their benefits.
01:13They run up the debt to give tax breaks to billionaires, and they run out of town to hide sex crimes for the rich and famous.
01:25Well, Americans are sick of a system that looks at people who follow the rules and actually work for a living and puts them last.
01:38Right now, 60% of American households say they can't afford the basics.
01:46Most parents, 54%, say they will have to skip on groceries to afford school supplies this fall.
01:57You deserve better.
01:59Your family deserves better.
02:02And over the next six weeks, House Democrats will fan out across the country, listening to our neighbors, listening to our constituents.
02:13And we are going to make sure that Americans know it does not have to be this way.
02:21We can fight corruption.
02:24We can lower the cost of child care.
02:27We can make health care and housing more affordable.
02:31We can build an economy that rewards the people who make it run, not the corporations who exploit them.
02:41We can have a Congress that prioritizes kids and families.
02:47This is the wealthiest nation in the history of the world.
02:52There is enough for everybody, not just to get by, but get ahead.
02:58If we give the American people the fair shot at success that they deserve.
