00:00You mentioned the Ryder Cup coming up at Bethpage Black at the end of September.
00:04So, Keith, if you had the scene set this week in Minneapolis,
00:07how would you best describe it?
00:10Well, the easiest way to set the stage is that we have two weeks left of the
00:14regular season.
00:15And these events are not going to be huge on the strength of field.
00:18But if you're a middle-tier PGA Tour guy, you have all the inspiration and
00:24motivation you need in the world to play hard the next couple of weeks at these
00:28two venues.
00:29I mean, as it stands right now, there have been changes to the points.
00:33There's always changes to the points, right?
00:34But the top 70 get into the playoffs.
00:38So, if you're a guy like Emiliano Grillo, who's played well before here in Blaine,
00:42Minnesota at the 3M, you're sitting at 71 on the points.
00:45You want to have a great week this week so you know you're in the playoffs.
00:48And then you know you have your tour card for next year.
00:50If you're a guy like Wyndham Clark, like why is Wyndham Clark there of all people?
00:54Well, he sits 51 on the points list.
00:56Top 50 get in all those signature events next week.
00:59And all of that stuff is locked.
01:00Top 50, top 30, top 70.
01:02That's all kind of locked when we get to the end of next week.
01:06So, these guys, I mean, of the guys that sit from 70 to 100, 28 players are in the field.
01:13You've got to be in the top 100 to retain your tour card.
01:15It's not top 125 anymore.
01:17That number is irrelevant.
01:19You've got to be in the top 100.
01:20So, these guys, they are really pressing.
01:23And if the PGA Tour has done one thing right, it's taken these regular season events at the end of the year.
01:28And it's made them very important.
01:30And the 3M Open and TPC Twin Cities is a super entertaining venue.
01:35Let's take a look at that venue as well.
01:37Also, Keith, with some of Keith's keys this week.
01:39Because as you said, a lot is up for grabs for some of these guys.
01:41And some guys playing great golf heading into this tournament.
01:44What are we looking at?
01:45All right, three simple ones for you, Donnie.
01:48The first one, pay attention to the par-4 scoring.
01:50It's a par-71 golf course, 7,400 yards.
01:53We're only getting three par-5s this week.
01:55If you birdie all of those over four days, you're only going to be 12 under.
01:59Well, the average winning score here is about 19 under.
02:02You've got to hit the par-4s.
02:03Five of the last six winners have gained more than nine shots on the field on the par-4s.
02:07The second thing is that you need birdie chances, right?
02:10The guys that have won have created about, on average, 24 subpar scores between birdies and eagles throughout the course of their winning week.
02:18You've got to be able to go deep here.
02:19You've got to knock it close to the pin.
02:21And the third thing is the putter.
02:22I looked at this.
02:23The last five winners here, we've been here six times, the last five winners have made over 300 feet of putts in the week that they won.
02:31That's a lot.
02:32So, to put it in perspective, when Scottie won at 31 under at TPC Craig Ranch back at the Byron Nelson a couple months ago, he made like 300 feet of putts.
02:41These guys are making putts here.
02:42You've got to do it.
02:43So, par-4s, make some birdies, and roll the rock.
