00:00What is the most likely explanation? Both fuel switches were cut off.
00:03We know that Boeing has conducted those extensive tests.
00:06There is no error, at least it would appear, on the part of the aircraft.
00:10So what are we looking at here? Human error, pilot intervention, or something else entirely, do you think?
00:15Well, at this point, I would say there's three options.
00:18The first one would be pilot suicide.
00:20Now, bearing in mind that, technically speaking, when they were going down the runway,
00:24the first officer was flying, OK?
00:26So when they got to the decision speed, the first officer's hands would have both been on the yoke.
00:30And then as they rotate the airplane, he'll be pulling back on the yoke.
00:34And as they get a positive rate of climb, he will call gear up.
00:36And then the captain would have put his hand over to bring the landing gear up.
00:41Now, we know the landing gear from this footage.
00:43You can see the landing gear was down all the time.
00:45So the gear wasn't actually brought up.
00:47So could the captain have gone over and cut off the two fuel levers to cut off?
00:53That's a possibility.
00:54And that's why you hear one pilot say, why did you cut off the fuel?
00:58And the other one say, no, I didn't.
01:00So did the ones that said, no, I didn't, was he saying a lie?
01:05Or was he saying the truth?
01:07So we don't know.
01:08I mean, I would say it's probably 70% that it was pilot suicide.
01:11But then you need to ask yourself the question, well, why would he commit suicide?
01:14Apparently, the captain's mother had just passed away, and he wanted to retire early and look after his father.
01:18So I'm not quite sure there if he was motivated to kill himself and 200 other people with him.
01:24So that's one option.
01:26The other option would be a malfunction of some sort on the aircraft that made both engines cut off.
01:31And the other one would be sabotage or a hack.
01:35Now, can this airplane be hacked?
01:36It can be hacked.
01:37It means that someone that's going to hack it has to be highly skilled.
01:40They have to have access to the aircraft on the ground, do what they need to do on the ground,
01:44and then be able to action that remotely once the aircraft takes off or set it up so that it would kick into gear a few seconds once the airplane was in the air.
01:55So that's certainly something that the accident investigators should be looking into.
01:59I'm quite surprised no one's been talking about sabotage or hack.
02:02But if it's a hack or a sabotage, the question needs to be, well, why would someone hack or sabotage this aircraft?
02:08What's their motive?
02:10And the investigators need to do their research.
