00:00Talk us through how this attack actually unfolded inside the building and tell us what we know about this gunman and his motives, especially considering the huge cross-country journey he made in order to get to New York.
00:11Yeah, that's right. Good afternoon from New York. Police say 27-year-old Shane Devon Tamura had driven from Nevada to Manhattan in recent days, which is a very long journey from one side of the United States to the other.
00:22And they say he left his car parked outside 345 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan and walked into the large commercial building.
00:30Now, once inside, police say he opened fire on Diderul Islam, the police officer who was working off duty as a security guard, killing him, as well as a woman named Wesley Lepatna, who was an employee at the investment management firm in that building, Blackstone.
00:46Now, he also shot two other people who haven't been named by authorities yet.
00:50It's then reported the shooter took one of the elevator banks more than 30 floors up the building, ending up at the office of the building's management company, where he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
01:02A very tragic story. But of course, yes, his motive is unknown at this stage, although there is reports that he left a note inside his wallet that talked about the brain condition CTE and the National Football League, which is also housed in that building.
