On today’s GET UP, the crew dives into the big question facing the Pittsburgh Steelers: What do they need from Aaron Rodgers to clinch a playoff spot in 2025? Former NFL wide receiver Andrew Hawkins believes not only will the Steelers make the playoffs, but they’ll also win a playoff game with Rodgers at the helm.

Rodgers joins a revamped Steelers roster led by Mike Tomlin, and expectations are heating up. But with tough AFC competition ahead, what must go right in Pittsburgh? Can Rodgers stay healthy? Is the defense playoff-ready?

Catch the full debate and prediction breakdown from the GET UP panel.

00:00he gets up and walks away again we'll know there may be further news in the meantime time for a
00:04little hawk talk andrew hawkins has an opinion that we all want to hear that is a good picture
00:08thank you a lot less wrinkles back then i think the pittsburgh steelers are going to get to the
00:13playoffs and win a playoff game for the first time in a long time because they have aaron rogers
00:17we've heard aaron rogers talk about his mindset going to is what he thinks is going to be his last
00:22season i think this situation in pittsburgh is actually the situation we thought he was walking
00:27into with the jet where he doesn't have to be his all-star self to make this team better we've seen
00:32mike tomlin do this with quarterbacks who are much less than what aaron rogers has at 42 years old
00:36you buy it yeah i'm definitely buying the one difference between this situation that's a little
00:40worse than the jet situation is this division is going to be a little bit more consistently tough
00:45and i think that the point that you're making is right hog is that if the jets wanted so much from
00:50aaron rogers the steelers aren't asking a whole lot from him they may ask him to work his magic in
00:56late game situations occasionally but most of it is like hey be smart with the football we're going
01:01to keep you in the game you're going to be safe and you can use your talents because we saw in
01:04certain situations last year the arm isn't gone like aaron rogers still has talent i think putting
01:09a team on his back is something that you can't quite do anymore you know it's interesting because
01:12we're talking about the dallas cowboys and repeating what they've done in the past and doing
01:17the same thing over again moving slowly in all these contracts the pittsburgh steelers for years have done
01:22things the exact same way this feels like the first off season where they broke the mold and
01:28acted very unstealer like they traded for dk metcalf they traded for jalen ramsey they traded for john
01:36who smith they signed aaron rogers they did a lot of things that stealer teams in the past wouldn't
01:44have done they've never been one of the most aggressive teams in the league they have relied on
01:50drafting their players developing them leaning on the values of being a pittsburgh stealer this
01:55was not your pittsburgh stealer's father's off season they broke the mold and acted in ways that
02:02this team has it they recognize that they had lost six straight playoff games and it was time to try
02:08to do something different this was a radical departure from what they've done in other off season
02:13it's an important point for all the stealer fans who were saying we need to do something different the
02:16definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again i think a lot of them from the
02:21sense i get externally was they thought they needed to make a change in the coach i think that they did
02:26the right thing by keeping the coach because he's a great coach and changing around the philosophy
02:29because the philosophy had gotten stale and by the way as to the division i understand why you say that
02:34the ravens are really good but the bengals best defensive player just drove home to jacksonville don't
02:39know where he is the browns are we're talking about them like they may have the first pick in the draft
02:43next year the nfc north nfc east afc west i think are all better divisions i think the stealers as
02:49they were a year ago and they surprised people by doing it will be right there to the finish in that
02:54i think you're absolutely right i i would say the one thing that they aren't doing that's unusual in
02:58mold breaking is they are paying you brought up trey hendrickson they're paying their older defensive
03:03end because they are serious about making some sort of run to your point everything all the decisions
03:09that were made were different but they were aligned they were consistent with what it appeared that
03:14they wanted to do the bangles those decisions don't seem consistent with like signing t higgins that
03:20seems consistent with all right we're making a run with this core that we have not signing trey
03:24hendrickson or shamar stewart is not consistent so i think in that division they can feel comfortable
03:29that they're at least run better than the bangles the steelers
03:32that's right
