00:00Here are some interesting facts about dinosaurs. Did you know that the word
00:04dinosaur means terrible lizard? Terrible as in terrifying, not terrible as in bad.
00:10It's actually derived from the Greek word for fearsome which is dinos. Dinosaurs
00:15first appeared on earth over 230 million years ago during the Triassic
00:18period. That's Triassic, not Jurassic. Don't get your periods mixed up. The
00:25largest dinosaur ever discovered was the Argentinosaurus. It was almost as long as
00:30a basketball court and weighed over 77 tons. That's heavier than 77 Triceratops.
00:36The only known dinosaur to have feathers was the Velociraptor. Scientists think
00:41that it had feathers for display and to keep it warm. One of the main reasons
00:45dinosaurs went extinct is because they were too big. Their massive size made
00:48them slow and clumsy. Just imagine trying to run away from a T-Rex. You'd be toast.
00:54Even though they're extinct, dinosaurs still live on in our dreams, in our
00:58nightmares, and in our wallets. I'm just kidding. Don't take my word for it. Check
01:03out this fossil right here. It's a dinosaur.
