00:00just what is happening between new gas united and james trafford now this move has been going on for

00:06about 12 months um first emerged almost this time last year when you guys united um agreeing terms

00:13with burn and with the keeper over removed sorry and not coming in agreement with burnley i think

00:17everything else was agreed on the deal and if i had have come to an agreement on price with burnley

00:22then james trafford would have been a new gas united player last year now financial reasons

00:26new gas will you know battle against psr and everything last year meant that it wasn't the

00:30right time for a move everyone thought this year would be the time you know from almost from january

00:35onwards everyone thought new gas would make a move for him eddie howe was even asked in february i was

00:41at a press conference then when he's asked about personal terms being agreed but as i stand now

00:45uh coming towards the end of july trafford is still not a new gas united player and if anything the

00:50deal looks less likely to happen now than it did probably in the last couple of months so

00:54just want to have a quick run through of what's happened with him in new gas this summer and then

00:58what has happened with manchester city particularly because that's the main sticking point right now

01:02so as i said new gas united's interest hasn't gone away they're still wanting trafford they see him

01:07as their main option for for a goalkeeper and nick port martin de brevka are good number ones and

01:13a number two and a good department to have but you got some need to future proof that trafford at 22

01:18could have you know at least another decade and then as a number one and it's better with the ball at

01:23his feet than either de brevka or pope so you can see why new gasol's interest in in him is there

01:27is it a priority area they need to strengthen this summer maybe not i think there's there's

01:31certainly other areas they need to look at in defense and attack but as a player he's um he wants to

01:36join he spoke about that on podcast he could he felt new gasol were it was a right move for him last

01:41year it didn't happen that nothing's changed this year you know burnley got promoted if anything

01:45trafford's stock has risen because he had such a good season last year and you can see why

01:49burnley would demand more money from this year is not to new gasols you know would new gasol

01:54benefit from getting them in last year of course but these are all hypotheticals right now um the

02:00player would probably want to join new gasol still but we have to talk about the manchester city factor

02:04now trafford left manchester city in 2023 to join burnley and it was a big move for him at the time

02:10he'd only had a season or two out unknown in the efl and obviously his first year in the premier league

02:14wasn't brilliant under vincent company but as i said last year he starred in the premier league

02:18now man city are interested in him again this year it looks like edison may be off to turkey

02:22there's interest in him there's interest in stefan ortega his number two so man city's goalkeeping

02:27department could be ripped up and trafford has seen as their you know potential option for them

02:32now there's two transfer closes which gasol really need to know about that city hold over trafford and

02:36why a deal can be so complicated this year the first of all is man city set to net 20 from any profit

02:43on uh trafford this summer that means that you know if new gas will buy in for 30 million pounds

02:49for example um man city could benefit up to about sort of five or six million pounds which is not a

02:55great deal in the modern game but it's a big amount and obviously that means burnley know that their 20

02:59sell-on clause will they'll lose 20 of whatever fee they get so they're going to hold out for as much

03:04as possible of course the second of all is that man city have a buyback clause for 40 million pounds so if

03:10they go in for a bid 40 million pounds burnley have to accept third of all manchester city have

03:15um as revealed by the manchester evening news today that manchester city can match any bid that's

03:21accepted by burnley they have three days to match any bid um to keep them in the race so if new

03:25guys have had a bid of i'd say 30 million pounds accepted by burnley manchester city connect can match

03:30that and then trafford would be you know free to agree terms of city only gas united now that's where

03:36the problems lie for new gas so no matter what they do man's the threat of man city

03:40being there is always going to loom over them is this all of their own making if they've got this

03:45deal done a couple months ago before edison and ortega interested emerge would it be an issue

03:49probably not you know probably not probably new gas's um hesitation over a deal has probably

03:55cost them here um and yeah it's a really interesting sort of position to be in because

04:02as much as the player want you know they want the player the player wants to join man city are always

04:06going to be there and you know you can't begrudge any player for moving man city because they're

04:10still man city as much as they might be disappointed last year they're still a really big you know

04:14lots competing for all trophies and under pep guardiola recently they've had a bit of a rebuild so

04:18it'd be interesting where the trafford goes if he if there is an option between new gas and man city

04:23you know if that does play out over the next few weeks whether that happens or not i think reports

04:28recently have and my understanding have seen to suggest that the new gas's interest is slightly cooled but

04:33again that might just be because they feel like they can't win against man city in this current market

04:38if things change man city might lose interest man city might decide not to go for a new goalkeeper

04:42then they could step up their interest again and you know as i said the personal terms between the

04:47player and new gas aren't going to be an issue so if new gas do finally get an offer accepted

04:51that move will progress um quite quickly but as i said the man city factor is a really

04:56interesting one and one to certainly watch over the next few weeks because that'll be one that decides

05:01whether trafford becomes a new gas and light player between now and the end of summer or whether he doesn't

05:06and you feel like this is the window they have to get him if they can't get him this window

05:09then you know if it's not man city it'll be another really big club they're going from so

05:14it'll be very interesting to see how this saga plays out but this is the current you know

05:18state of players as as i stand currently um today you know their interest is still there

05:23has it weighing slightly yes is there a difference in you know price valuation between new gas and burnley yes

05:29oh man city a big factor absolutely so that's how it stands um now i mean talking last week

05:35last week was dominated by isaac and akitiki talk i'm sure this this week will probably be trafford and

05:41whoever else emerges as a transfer target for new gas united but of course the best way you can stay
