00:00Yeah, let's talk about Scottie. Of course, he wins the 153rd Open at Royal Portrush, as we discussed early in the show.
00:08You know, it's tough when there's no weather there. You really don't get the true open feel.
00:15And Scottie was able to basically just tear the place up on Saturday and Sunday and run away and hide from everybody else.
00:23Of course, there was a lot of chatter, Scottie. Scottie made some headlines.
00:27We played the cut, too, earlier in the week when he was asked about, you know, what it means to him and how he, you know, two minutes after winning, you know, what is it all about?
00:36Well, he doubles down after winning yesterday on what's important to him. Here's Scottie Scheffler.
00:41I've worked since I was two or three years old to have a chance to play professional golf for a living.
00:45And now I've been able to win tournaments that I just dreamed of playing in.
00:48And it's an amazing feeling. And I'm so grateful to be able to live out my dreams.
00:52But, you know, like I said, my faith in my family is what's most important to me.
00:57And I try to live as normal a life as possible because I feel like a normal guy.
01:01I have the same friends I had growing up.
01:05I don't think that I'm anything special just because, you know, some weeks I'm better at shooting a lower score than other guys are.
01:11Yeah.
01:13I mean, you got to give him credit.
01:16He's got the humble card going full tilt.
01:18He's got it going. And listen, it is what it is.
01:23He's the best of the best right now.
01:25But, man, he's got he's as boring as as the day is long.
01:29Like, it's tough. I mean, it just, you know, golf needs a very, you know, I feel like when golf is on top, they need to have that guy.
01:37We had so long with Tiger being the guy at the top of golf.
01:42But this guy, unfortunately, and this is nothing against his play, he puts you asleep.
01:48I mean, he's like Nick Price.
01:50Nick Price was dominating golf for a couple of years back in the day.
01:54And, you know, it just he was, I guess, you know, smiley and friendly.
01:59But he didn't he didn't do anything for anybody either.
02:02Like this guy does nothing for anybody in terms of like his personality.
02:06He just he wins and he's just kind of vanilla.
02:09He's he's plaid.
02:10That's what he is.
02:12He finished the week 59 of 63 putting inside 10 feet.
02:16That'll help when you're making that many from inside 10.
02:21Now, before I play you the cut of him on the Tiger comparisons, let me give you all these numbers.
02:26He joins Tiger Woods, Jack Nicholson and Gary Player.
02:29Hello, Gary Player as the only players to win the Masters, the PGA and the Open Championship all before turning 30.
02:38So he's the fourth guy to do that.
02:41Tiger's first major win was the Masters in 1997.
02:45His fourth major win was the 2000 Open Championship.
02:50That was one thousand one hundred and ninety seven days apart.
02:53How sick is this?
02:55Scheffler's first major win was the 22 Masters.
02:58His fourth major win was this Open yesterday.
03:02Guess what it was, Scotty?
03:04One thousand one hundred and ninety seven days apart.
03:09That's spooky.
03:10That is bizarre.
03:13The exact same thing.
03:14Three years and one thousand one hundred and ninety seven days.
03:18That's crazy.
03:18Only difference, albeit, is that Scotty's obviously a little bit young, a little bit older than when Tiger accomplished the feat.
03:27Tiger was in his early 20s when he did all that, whereas Scotty's in his later 20s of it.
03:33But here he is on his on all the comparisons to Tiger Woods.
03:37I still think they're a bit silly.
03:39You know, Tiger won, what, 15 majors?
03:41Tiger's my fourth.
03:44Just got one fourth of the way there.
03:46So just I mean, it's I think Tiger stands alone in the game of golf.
03:52You know, he was inspirational for me growing up and he was a very, very talented guy.
03:56And he was a special person to be able to be as good as he was at the game of golf.
03:59And I don't focus on that kind of stuff.
04:01That's not what motivates me.
04:02I'm not not motivated by winning championships.
04:05And I don't look at the beginning of the year and just say, hey, I want to win X amount of tournaments.
04:10I want to win, you know, whatever it is.
04:13I don't do that.
04:13I have dreams and aspirations that I think about.
04:15But at the end of the day, you know, when I wake up and to practice, you know, I feel
04:20like what motivates me is just getting out and, you know, get getting to live out my dream.
04:25You know, Tiger was way more exciting with his arrests and, you know, his wife chasing him
04:29with a golf club and wrecking cars and DUIs and pills and booze and women and horn.
