00:00You both received my instructions in the dressing room so you know exactly what I expect.
00:05A clean championship fight. Obey my commands and protect yourself at all times.
00:10Touch gloves. Good luck to both of you.
00:14In these sensitive times where words mean something, what I meant to say or allude to was
00:20Jimmy Lennon Jr.'s nickname is the classy Jimmy Lennon Jr.
00:24So I was not disparaging the rapper Charro Loco. I was giving him credit.
00:28But the man is as classy as they come. And that's why he's in the Hall of Fame.
00:33All right. Two men who dream of getting into the Hall of Fame someday.
00:38Isaac Cruz, the pit bull, comes out and does what the pit bull does.
00:42Attack. He gets after it right away.
00:44Going to the body, figuring out how tough Salcido's going to be in front of him.
00:49Yeah, when they ask him, are you concerned about the new opponent, Omar Salcido?
00:54He didn't get ready for his style.
00:55Listen, I'm ready. And he fights anyone.
00:58Any time, any fights the same way. I'm loving pit bull right now.
01:02Pit bull not here to be paid by the hour, by the way.
01:05Or the round.
01:10Personal warning.
01:14I mean, Salcido
01:15took this fight to save
01:18the opportunity for pit bull to be on this card, if we're being honest.
01:22He was scheduled to fight in an eight-rounder. Not many fighters would have taken the risk.
01:26But, Salcido saw it as an opportunity.
01:29I don't know.
01:30Bernardo, that President Soraya says, this may not come around again.
01:33I have to take my shot.
01:35I mean, look at Manny Pacquiao's story.
01:37You mentioned him.
01:37Came out of vacation and unknown to defeat Lidwaba at that time,
01:41the class of the division.
01:43Sometimes you take that big swing.
01:45You never know, but people can swing too, Bernardo,
01:48and that's what we're seeing early on.
01:50Jesse Bam Rodriguez, another example of betting on himself
01:53on the grand stage and becoming a world champion.
01:56Tonight, Sancelo does the same,
01:57but he just happens to have a tenacious, hard-punching,
02:01hard-charging opponent in front of him
02:03who continues to learn different wrinkles to his game after.
02:07Yeah, I mean, if you're Cruz right now,
02:09you want to tame that pit bull right now with the jab, the distance.
02:13There it is, using the entire ring movement.
02:16Don't stay still.
02:18Don't stay stationary because that overhand right,
02:20that just missed right now by Cruz, the left.
02:23That's right to the body.
02:24If you miss to the head, why not go to the body?
02:27That's what pit bull Cruz is doing here in the opening round.
02:31You can notice that pit bull.
02:33Look, he's diminishing whatever division he fights at, 135, 140.
02:37He's giving up three inches of height tonight,
02:39five and a half inches of reach,
02:40and he was going to give up more in the rematch of Fierro,
02:42but he said, I've been fighting taller fighters all my life.
02:45I'm more than comfortable to get in there and mix it up.
02:47Oh, he's mad.
02:48He's mad that fight got canceled.
02:50So, you know, I've seen interviews.
02:52I've heard interviews.
02:53Pit bull right now, he's letting everything out,
02:55all of his anger right now.
02:57Unfortunately, on Cruz.
03:00I mean, you talk to him, right?
03:02Pit bull question the professionalism, the balls, if you will, of Fierro.
03:06Yeah, absolutely, because he believes that it was an intentional missing weight.
03:11And he says, you know what?
03:12If you don't want to fight me, just say you don't want to fight me.
03:14That's okay.
03:14I'll find somebody else, but don't pull this stunt.
03:17He's upset at Robert Garcia,
03:19who may not have much to do with the lack of weight loss from his fighter,
03:24but look, I saw him at the press conference on Thursday.
03:28Oh, nice shot.
03:30And I said, how's he going to make weight?
03:32And he didn't.
03:33You couldn't.
03:41Salcido's in over his head,
03:43and he listed in to Isaac Cruz's father.
03:48Take your mouthpiece up.
03:49No, I'm good.
03:50Give me some water.
03:51I need you to keep working your left.
03:54Upstairs and downstairs,
03:55and then just a shot right to the neck.
03:58Hey, don't get over-ranked.
04:00Just like you got inside,
04:03that's how I need you to work.
04:05I need you to work the straight left.
04:10Set him up.
04:14And these are shots that are going to play differently for Isaac Cruz.
04:19A double jab.
04:20He gets in close, and there's the body shot.
04:22Beautiful work from Pimple Cruz to get in to cut off the ring.
04:26Two jabs.
04:27Beautiful right.
04:29Hug to the body from Pimple Cruz.
04:31And that's how he breaks you down, little by little.
04:33Next thing you know, you put your hands down, and it's the overhand right.
04:36Round two of a scheduled 12-rounder for the WBC super lightweight title.
04:46Sancido jumped on the opportunity.
04:49It was a super opportunity.
04:50That's his nickname, and Super.
04:52And Pitbull said, well, before you think of becoming a champion, you've got to walk through fire.
04:56And that's a great combination from Cruz once again.
05:00He's just in his vibe.
05:02Well, you mentioned the little wrinkles he's adding to his game.
05:05Just the slight feints as he walks in is really making Sancido second guess and leaving him open for those big hooks.
05:12Yeah, the head move in, a tight guard in.
05:14And then we saw the replay, the jab that we wouldn't see much from Cruz.
05:18He would just charge in like he's doing right now, but he's using the jab now, setting up punches.
05:24Don't forget, he went 12 rounds with Gervonta Tank Davis on late notice and really made that a very close fight.
05:34So he understands how a late notice opponent can really come in and change things.
05:39You've heard the Manny Pacquiao story.
05:41There's so many there.
05:42Isidro Chino Garcia was sitting in the stands eating a hot dog at Fantasy Springs before he won his world title.
05:49I mean, anything can happen because this is boxing.
05:51This is the Wild Wild West.
05:54You've got to stay ready.
05:55You'll always be ready.
05:56Game of opportunities.
05:57And here it is for Cruz.
05:59I'm sorry, for Sancido.
06:01He's obviously trying, but he's got a hard.
06:04Cruz was just too much.
06:06A lot of pressure.
06:08A lot of punches thrown.
06:09You've got to start setting up the jab if you're Cruz.
06:11There you go.
06:12Get it going.
06:13Get the flow going.
06:14Wait for the aggressive Cruz to get in.
06:16Throw a straight right hand.
06:18Even that upper good that he tried right there.
06:20But keep him at bay.
06:24After you see Sancido keeping those elbows tucked to try to avoid the body shots,
06:28but that opens up a new target for Pitbull to go after.
06:32Oh, he's so good at that Cruz.
06:33He targets the body because he knows that sooner or later the opponent is going to bring the guard down.
06:39Too worried, too concerned about the body shots.
06:41And boom.
06:42Overhand right or left to the head.
06:44There it is.
06:45He tried it.
06:45Yep.
06:46Good defense, though, from Sancido.
06:47But then he paid the price by bringing his hands up, and he got caught downstairs.
06:51That's an overhand right from Pitbull Cruz.
06:54That's a nice body shot from Pitbull, right?
06:56To the solar plexus.
06:58One thing about Pitbull's constant pressure is it always leaves you on the defensive.
07:02You know, you'd want Sancido to sort of try to land something big like Fierro did in that last fight
07:06to gain Pitbull's respect, but he's just getting overwhelmed by the constant forward motion.
07:12Someone that used his aggression to his benefit was Rayo Valenzuela.
07:18So you've got to be smart.
07:19You know, if it Cruz needs one gear, come forward.
07:22Wait for the guy to come in.
07:24Make a mess.
07:25He's shorter than you.
07:26He's got shorter distance.
07:27Take a step back.
07:28He misses.
07:28You make him pay.
07:31Beautiful.
07:32Look there from Sancido.
07:37Time.
07:40Tonight, it's a history-making opportunity for the man who rewrites the boxing history books
07:46more than anyone.
07:48He does the improbable like it's normal.
07:50Manny Pacquiao.
07:53247 of his almost 500 total rounds have come.
07:56In championship fights.
07:57Go ahead and take that credential off, Manny.
07:59If they don't know you by now, they never will.
08:02But what is this moment like after four years off practically for Manny Pacquiao?
08:08He's coming back in a world title shot.
08:10Not an exhibition like many others do.
08:12Yeah, listen, there's always fight left in us as fighters, and Manny Pacquiao feels that
08:16there's a lot of fighting left in him.
08:19You know, he is a fighter that he has no bad habits.
08:23He stays in church, clean, cut, and he knows how his body feels.
08:27And when people are saying that he's hitting super hard in training sessions, sparring sessions, outrunning young kids, let me tell you something, Manny Pacquiao is ready for Mark Vardis tonight.
08:38You know what he did?
08:39He's been saying all week, I've been blessed by God that I've retained this speed and this
08:43power.
08:44And he's always been about wanting to give back to the fans and show what he can do tonight.
08:49Maybe an uphill climb on the betting odds.
08:50But you've got to believe boxing is behind him here as he's bringing back the old nostalgia of the prime Pac-Man.
08:58Boxing has proven to be cruel of late.
09:01People believed in Mike Tyson.
09:04We saw what happened there.
09:06Joseza Chavez.
09:07Look, boxing has no soul.
09:09It has no heart.
09:10What it does have is the opportunity to go and make history, the opportunity for someone to shine.
09:16Who is going to take that?
09:17Will it be Manny Pacquiao or will it be Mario Barrios defeating a legend in our main event?
09:23Right now it's Ysac Cruz landing big, powerful shots like that overhand right on late substitute Omar Sancido, who was scheduled to fight on this card as an eight-rounder.
09:34And now he's in against a buzzsaw with no compassion.
09:39He even got me, Cruz.
09:41And when I say that, I was looking at that shot and I thought he was going to throw a body shot.
09:44And he came on top.
09:45He fooled me as well.
09:48So good shot that Sancido took to the head.
09:52You can really see up close the strength in Pippo's legs.
09:55He may be diminutive in size, but he is able to, as you see right there, shift and really load up on these power shots.
10:02And that could punctuate a very precise and powerful combination.
10:07And what I like about Cruz, he's now a one-shot type of fighter.
10:13He follows up every combination.
10:15See, he misses one, but he follows up with the other one.
10:18He has you on the back foot.
10:21And that's what he did against Roley Romero, knocking him out to claim that title.
10:24He had an answer any time there was open space.
10:26Especially if you walk straight, linear, your bonds would get caught.
10:31The one thing I am noticing about Cruz, though, he's patient tonight.
10:35He's not running at him.
10:37He didn't run out initially.
10:39But he kind of settled down a little bit and realized, hey, this guy's pretty big.
10:43It looks like he can take a shot.
10:44Let me work my way towards my desired outcome.
10:48And that's being a complete fighter.
10:49He's not just an inside brawler.
10:51He's a combination puncher.
10:53He can box like he showed against Stank Davis.
10:55There's a lot that Pitbull can do.
10:57Oh, by the way, a third-generation boxer, when you consider his grandfather Memo Cruz,
11:02was a featherweight in the late 1960s, scored wins over future world champions Pepino Cuevas, Alfredo Escalera.
11:08And that was his dad and trainer, Esac Sr.
11:10Oh, that body shot was heard.
11:12He fought the likes of Verde Forrest.
11:14So a boxing family, maybe, just maybe, Esac on his way to being the best of the three.
11:23What helps Cruz a lot is the fact that he's so small.
11:27He's got the tight guard.
11:28He always goes slow.
11:29So it's hard to hit him.
11:31He can't find a target.
11:34I think that's what's underrated for Cruz.
11:37The fact that he makes you miss more than one of the forward fighters.
11:42It's like a little mini Mike Tyson.
11:45I need you to use more fates.
11:48He already ate one shot, but I need you to work it.
11:50Set it up.
11:51Short shots.
11:55Give me the towel.
11:56Remember that.
12:00With the freehand, that's the one you need to work with.
12:02Once you get on the inside, boom, I need you to go to the body.
12:08How are you doing?
12:09I need four punches.
12:10You've done it perfectly.
12:14Your feet are being set up properly.
12:16Now I need you to throw that shot to the body.
12:20Throw it to his stomach, not to the head.
12:23You're setting up the movement perfectly.
12:25Now go to the body and pick him up.
12:30Let's just keep going with the left.
12:32Don't get over-anxious.
12:33Manny Pacquiao, no stranger to being the underdog when he steps into the ring.
12:43But the results, they're out differently.
12:4716th fight here at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
12:50That's a new record.
12:51Manny Pacquiao in our main event.
12:53Challenging WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios.
12:56And for now, Isaac Pitbull-Cruz pretty much doing what he wants to do against Omar Supersalcido,
13:05whose game, who wants to keep Cruz at bay.
13:09But I get to see the person to be able to do that.
13:12No, he's yet to really land a defining punch that would build any successional momentum.
13:17Yeah, more than anything that, Brian, because, yeah, he's trying to, he's got the uppercut there.
13:22He's trying to get the jab going, good body shots there, combinations, but not a good, clean shot where he can get Cruz,
13:30you know, to hurt Cruz or get Cruz's attention.
13:34Salcido landed a nice looping right just behind the guard of Pitbull, but it didn't land cleanly.
13:41Partially blocked.
13:42That's the difference between what people think Cruz is and what he is, you know,
13:47because he does have just enough reflexes and quickness to get a piece of your glove as it's coming in.
13:53That's all you need to do, deflect it partially.
13:55Sure.
13:56Nice left hook there off of Salcido trying to go downstairs.
14:00And he knows how to fill that space.
14:03He does.
14:03I mean, this is no harm for him for Cruz.
14:06He's always going to be fighting and talking with fighters.
14:08So for him, he's always got to find his way or find a way to get inside, and he mastered that already.
14:14Salcido using his necks here.
14:15Not really being physical, though, despite being such a bigger fighter, at least visually.
14:21Maybe you'd like to see him do some work on the inside, try to clinch Pitbull, try to lean on him.
14:26And again, you've got to land a hard shot or something that catches Cruz's attention.
14:30And put some respect on that punch.
14:38Yeah, if you don't do that here, you're just going to have Cruz all over you all night.
14:41Even if you do, you're going to have Cruz all over you all night.
14:45Yeah, that's true.
14:46That is true.
14:47That is true.
14:48But at moments, if he hit him hard, you know, Cruz would probably, you know, don't always think.
14:55But yeah, yeah, you're right.
14:56He's always the type of guy that he takes a shot and he comes forward.
15:00Hands free.
15:00Let him go.
15:01By the way, Pitbull Cruz is an amateur.
15:04He had 85 fights.
15:0550 knockouts scored in those 85 fights in three round bouts.
15:10That's crazy.
15:12Doesn't know how to fight any other way.
15:14Talk about an amateur having a pro style.
15:16Look at that.
15:18Oh, that's a beautiful left hook for Cruz.
15:21Salcido trying to land the right hand, but he gets clipped by a three-shot combination from Pitbull.
15:26And Pitbull is coming on here in this round, trying to show his class and prove to Omar Salcido.
15:34Kid, keep dreaming.
15:35You don't belong in here with me.
15:37But Salcido says, how was that, Africa?
15:48Give me the Vaseline.
15:48You've got to take control here.
15:59Feint and then throw the right hook.
16:03You've got to be quick with your hand.
16:05And you've got to pick it up fast because he's going to come over the top.
16:09And I need you to focus.
16:13You're doing a good job when you're countering.
16:16Keep doing that.
16:18And right here, we're going to see that tight guard that we're talking about, Pitbull, coming in.
16:26No jab, but tight guard, not giving anything to Salcido, but Salcido finds an opening.
16:32Overhand right, uppercut, and backs up and creates that speed and that distance.
16:37That's what he needs to be doing, Cruz.
16:41Speaking of Salcido, I'm sorry.
16:45Round five here at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
16:48Bernardo Osuna alongside Abner Mares, Brian Campbell, Jim Gray, Brian Custler, and Joe Goosen.
16:58There is Omar Sancido with the long overhand right.
17:01Although he's being shut out, the corner is seeing potential opportunities for him and pointing him out to him.
17:07And now it's up to him to see if he can capitalize.
17:10He's proven he can take some clean shots from Pitbull very well.
17:14He's really got to start to let his hands go and try to maybe build behind that big jab.
17:18Good angle there.
17:20The only way is, yeah, but you got to outbox Cruz, but easier set than done.
17:24You're going to have this guy coming all day long, coming forward, throwing a lot of punches.
17:29But at least make it count.
17:30Oh, come on, Salcido, you got to land those shots, go from distance, and get that jab going.
17:38No one's going to say that Pitbull Cruz is a defensive genius, yet Salcido's been unable to land double-digit punches through the first four-three rounds.
17:50You can tell by the body language in this round for Salcido that he's getting more comfortable.
17:54He's building his confidence just enough, and certainly if you look at the ten-round format in this fight, he's going to need to speed up quickly.
18:02Another body shot there for Pitbull Cruz.
18:09Let him go, let him hold him.
18:11Break, break.
18:13I like how Cruz is working with the freehand right there.
18:16Refugee didn't see it.
18:17That's how you're taught as a fighter.
18:19Fills in the legs, yeah.
18:19He doesn't give you any room to breathe.
18:21I mean, the beauty of a lot of his three-punch combinations, Abner, is Pitbull will close distance so quickly with that footwork and land that third punch as you're exiting backwards.
18:30That's where Rowley Romero got caught and knocked out, I'll tell you.
18:34There's two shots from Cruz.
18:37And the warning is from Mark Nelson, the third man in the ring for holding against Salcido.
18:44Oh, he's starting to break it down now.
18:46I want to see a little bit more body work from Cruz.
18:48There's still legs behind Salcido.
18:51He's still running around.
18:53Stop! Be careful.
18:53No, no, no, no, no, no.
18:54I mean, but the mental pressure that, apart from the physical pressure that Cruz is imposing on Salcido, this is next-level stuff.
19:02Definitely is.
19:03And you've seen, look, Abner, it's not just because Salcido's not up to this level.
19:08Cruz has been able to do it against every fighter he's been in against, including Gervonta Davis, Orlando, Rowley, Romero.
19:14So the only one who got away with it was Rayo Valenzuela.
19:17And he did it with the southpaw stance, the big jab, and the boxing ability.
19:21With any type of style.
19:22And again, Omar Salcido, he's not an easy fighter to fight.
19:27Easy's got a lot of game.
19:29And he, again, we mentioned the win, the knockout win that he got against Chris Colford, a talented fighter.
19:39All right, we're halfway through this fight, and Abner, you mentioned the importance of footwork and angles, and Pitbull has really become a master of that.
19:47The ambassador, a guy that just, he kind of runs forward.
19:52It's a one, two, three step.
19:54There it is.
19:54He lunges himself in.
19:55He takes two steps in.
19:57He's at the right reach.
19:59And he always finds success with the overhand right, because guess what?
20:03The opponent's going to try to get away.
20:05But guess what?
20:05Not that easy.
20:07Cruz, he knows that they're going to step to that side.
20:10He catches you with that overhand right.
20:12I need to switch it up downstairs, and I need you to go upstairs.
20:19Throw them straight shots.
20:21When you fake, and then go to the right of the body, and then go up to the chin.
20:27Fake to the body, go to the chin.
20:30Listen to me, please, son.
20:34Let's go!
20:34Welcome to Las Vegas, everyone.
20:37Manny Pacquiao's big return.
20:40Yes, he's back.
20:41And you have to do something historic to be able to wrestle the championship away from Mario Barrios.
20:48Early on here, Salcido landing a big shot at the start.
20:54Like that left hook.
20:57But you see the coffee box numbers three times as many punches practically for Cruz landing in terms of power than Salcido.
21:03Yeah, how about that 45% power punch percentage for Pitbull?
21:07That's efficiency right there.
21:08Wait! Stop!
21:08Not to mention how often he is sitting down on these shots and setting up Salcido beautifully.
21:14And he's listening to his father.
21:20He said work to the body.
21:23Open up the guard and come on top.
21:25He's jabbing to the body.
21:28There it is.
21:29The overhead left now.
21:32Break!
21:33You know, it's so easy to see why he's so beloved by the Mexican fan base.
21:40He doesn't talk a lot of trash.
21:42He doesn't try to boast.
21:43He's just solid, workmanlike, dangerous, efficient.
21:48His game is evolving.
21:49That's really like him because he does the talking inside the ring with his hands.
21:54Exactly.
21:55We'll take on all comers.
21:57Maybe this, you know, this weight class of 140 for him.
21:59He's so undersized.
22:00But it doesn't matter when you look at his punching power, his ability to box.
22:05He's really putting together a complete offensive game.
22:10Yeah, when you're a small fighter and you know already, you master how to get in the inside.
22:14Double jab.
22:16Shuffle your way inside.
22:18Two steps, three steps.
22:19Over and right.
22:20I mean, that's what Cruz does.
22:22And you don't see it.
22:23It looks easy from here and from outside.
22:25Like, how did he get in there?
22:26But when you're inside, it's like, whoa, you got in here quick.
22:30It looks rudimentary, but it's not.
22:31There's angles to it.
22:32Oh, yeah.
22:34And he just looks a lot sharper tonight than he did in that victory over on El Fiero.
22:39Even earlier this year, that was a back-and-forth war.
22:42Fiero was bigger, and he was certainly game.
22:44But there's a new swagger and confidence even upgraded.
22:47I had an uppercut there for Salcido.
22:48Go ahead.
22:49Yeah, I mean, look, at the end of the day, we can't pump up Salcido too much
22:54because there's a different level of skill and different level of experience.
23:00And that's why, you know, Pitbull is having his way.
23:03If Salcido couldn't get past Andy Cruz, a different style of fighter,
23:07only for all but an Olympic gold medalist,
23:10that's really got to be the litmus test for a fighter like Salcido.
23:15And he got out-jabbed over ten rounds and out-boxed,
23:17although Salcido did land double the power punches of Cruz over that ten-round fight.
23:22The difference being the power coming back is not the same
23:27as what he's facing tonight at Pitbull Cruz.
23:30No question.
23:31Either way, the Cruz is beating up on his poor Salcido character.
23:35Oh!
23:38Got power for that there.
23:39He's doing well.
23:48Hey.
23:50Hey, you used the uppercut perfectly there.
23:55Let's keep working on that.
23:56Use your range.
23:58You have to believe in your power.
24:01Sit down on your punches.
24:03He's going to open up.
24:04How do you feel?
24:05I'm good.
24:06How's your conditioning?
24:07We're going to see how Pitbull made his defense become his offense.
24:19Head movement, bobbing.
24:22Tight guard and boom, the overhand ride.
24:25What he's known for.
24:28Salcido, he's got a chin, guys,
24:30because any other fighter would have been down already.
24:33Stay there.
24:34Jim Gray with a great nugget in terms of
24:39he signed Pitbull Cruz getting the same pay rate
24:42because he did his job.
24:44He made the wait.
24:45It wasn't his fault that the fight was downgraded.
24:49He's certainly handling his business through six rounds here.
24:53So Salcido's getting the same pay that Fierro was.
24:56No, no, no.
24:58Pitbull Cruz is getting the same pay check.
25:00I'm like, good for you, Salcido.
25:03Hey, but I'm sure he's getting a bump.
25:05I'm sure he is.
25:06You know who I want to give us a bump of knowledge here?
25:10Joe Goosin.
25:11Joe, as a trainer,
25:13would you be happy with what you've seen so far from
25:15Isak Cruz against the late replacement in Salcido?
25:18Look, Cruz is doing what he always does.
25:21He pressures you.
25:22He keeps his hands up well.
25:23He blocks punches and then he fires back.
25:26With Salcido, that's got the problem right now.
25:28Even his coroner said it best.
25:30He says, look, you know, you've got to start using your power.
25:32You've got to sit down and, you know,
25:34kind of believe in your power right now.
25:35Right now, Salcido's holding on every round.
25:39The referee has already warned him a couple times.
25:42Look, the referee's behind.
25:43He may take a point next time he does it.
25:45And Salcido's kind of in, he's in survival mode right now.
25:50He's just not fighting back.
25:53I think he just wants to get through the fight right now.
25:55And look, I can't blame the guy.
25:56He came in late.
25:57He wasn't ready for Isak Cruz to get in there,
26:01but he took the fight.
26:02But he's just overwhelmed by Cruz,
26:05and he doesn't really have the talent to deal with Isak Cruz right now.
26:10Appreciate the insight from the Hall of Famer,
26:13Joe Goosen, here in round seven of his scheduled ten round fight.
26:17And to Joe's point, Salcido's been a bit of a late starter throughout his career.
26:21In fact, the two fights that he was knocked down in against Jose Nunez
26:26and another time in his career there against Jesus Alaya,
26:30he got up off the deck in both fights, scored knockdowns of his own,
26:33and took home decision wins.
26:35So you're kind of waiting for that turning point
26:37when he gets woken up from a big pit bull punch and decides to go for it.
26:40Yeah, exactly.
26:42That's the word.
26:42Go for it.
26:43But he's not in this fight right now.
26:45Like Joe said, he's just in survival mode.
26:48When he sees the opportunity, he holds for dear life.
26:51He does not want to get hit by the overhands from Cruz.
26:55Definitely just trying to get out of this fight.
26:57Right.
26:58Right.
26:58You said a shot will wake you up.
27:00It could put you to sleep.
27:01It is true.
27:04That's the conundrum.
27:05That's a nice combination there from pit bull.
27:08Let's see what Salcido comes back with.
27:10Look, he's got heart, and he's got some good legs
27:13because he's been able to run for the first seven rounds
27:17and move around and create space.
27:19What's really going to be interesting to me is how he looks if it gets there,
27:23the ninth and tenth rounds, which he wasn't prepared to fight tonight.
27:27Yeah, exactly.
27:27He was scheduled for an eight-round fight.
27:29He's going ten now, so we don't know
27:31if he's got the same condition or the conditioning enough
27:33to last ten rounds, speaking of Salcido.
27:45You're not doing anything of what I'm telling you.
27:49And you talk a lot, and you're not doing what you said you were going to do,
27:53so I need you to land better punches.
27:55Sir, he's holding too much.
27:57What good does it do if you're warning him, but you're not taking a point away?
28:07I need you to work your inside punches.
28:10You can't hit a guy in the back unless he turns his back.
28:12You can't hit a guy in the back.
28:13How are you feeling?
28:16I need you to be smarter.
28:20For what, for one time, can I ask you a favor?
28:23Faint for me.
28:24I need you to throw the hooks to his side.
28:30You're doing things well.
28:31The house is starting to fill up here for tonight's main event,
28:39featuring Manny Pacquiao challenging WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios.
28:44And the house that Manny built pretty much since 2001,
28:49when he won his first world title in America here against Lelola Duaba
28:53to become a two-division champion as a last-minute replacement.
28:58Salcido not having that same type of aura tonight.
29:02No, this is, again, you know, the opportunity's there sometimes,
29:06and you go for it and you take it.
29:08But I think since the very first round, Salcido noticed,
29:11and he knew that this is not the fight that he's going to win,
29:14and he went on survival mode.
29:16Ooh, that's a nice slapping right hook.
29:20Pitbull says it landed once.
29:22Will it land twice?
29:23Why not?
29:26I think Fierro pulling out in the way he did
29:30and the way Cruz interpreted that pulling out,
29:33it's really kind of fighting with a chip on his shoulder tonight.
29:35You can see that in there.
29:37Absolutely.
29:37And Mark Nelson is about to finally take a point away.
29:44Oh, this may be the final warning.
29:46Don't hold this for the last time, okay?
29:49Okay, time in.
29:52A stern talking to is what we call that.
29:54And Pitbull says,
29:55if you do the talking, I'll do the punching.
29:58I was just going to say, you know what that means.
29:59He's not going to be able to hold,
30:00so guess what?
30:01He's going to take a beating.
30:03These are big-time power shots Pitbull's unloading.
30:06And now there's sometimes those eight, ten seconds in the corner
30:10that you can't catch a breather.
30:12They give you that little energy that we saw from Pitbull.
30:14Oh, that's a nice right hand that hurt him, yes.
30:21Big body shots opening up that right hand upstairs for Pitbull.
30:25The crowd is getting into this fight finally here in the eighth round.
30:29I like Cruz right there.
30:30He knew that Sancido couldn't hold anymore,
30:32and he said, the ref is right there.
30:35Go for it.
30:36I dare you to hold me.
30:37He's like, either way, I'm getting a 10-8 round.
30:39If I drop you or if the referee takes the point away.
30:45Pick your poison.
30:46Ooh, I heard the whiff.
30:49He was playing golf.
30:51You want to know how mean that punch was?
30:53Pitbull's setting up that body shot, sizing him up,
31:05physically knowing where he was, and then going for it.
31:08And he's kind of showing no respect for the punching power of Sancido.
31:12He really hasn't given him a reason to do that just yet.
31:15That's why his corner's been all over.
31:17And here's the holding from Sancido.
31:19I like how Cruz changed the punches there.
31:22It's not that the overhand rights weren't landing anymore.
31:24Over him for the body, and then the uppercut.
31:26He kind of Canelo'd that one where it was like a flip,
31:28kind of flip the right hand and then landed the left.
31:32But again, that lets you know that he's thinking.
31:34He's not just throwing and throwing.
31:35Hopefully, he lands something.
31:37No, he knows that when he throws a punch, it will land.
31:40People needed more body shots than Salcido landed total punches.
32:02Take a deep breath.
32:04Listen to me.
32:05Did you see that he got hurt?
32:07That's why he's holding you.
32:09If you keep him at the mid-range, you're going to drop him.
32:13I need you to keep working.
32:14Take a deep breath, please.
32:19I need that same intensity.
32:21Don't smother your work.
32:24I need you to keep that same consistency.
32:28Don't get too close to him.
32:32Faint him with the cross, and then throw straight shots.
32:37You're doing well.
32:40You have enough conditioning and mobility to do this and more.
32:44This is where Salcido was supposed to be either listening to the decision in his favor or against him.
33:02But instead, he's got to continue fighting six more minutes.
33:06And, Admiral, I don't know if that's ever happened to you,
33:07but psychologically you come in with one plan, one preparation.
33:11How big a difference are these last six minutes?
33:14Oh, no.
33:14You know what?
33:15When I get ready for a certain round, amount of rounds, obviously, 12 rounds,
33:18you get ready for 12 rounds,
33:19but you go 14 rounds sometimes as far as sessions
33:23because you know that there are going to be fights where they're going to push you to the limit.
33:28And I think Salcido, yeah, he trained for an eight-round fight,
33:31but he is ready for a 10-round fight,
33:34especially because he hasn't thrown much in this fight.
33:36So he's got the energy.
33:39Body work from Pitbull.
33:41Just brutal body work with these lead left hooks.
33:44You talked about how Brandon Figueroa had no torque.
33:50I mean, that's the opposite here with Cruz.
33:53100%.
33:54A lot of that is that leg strength.
33:56He dunks down before he explodes upwards
33:58and really gets that extension right there with the right hand.
34:02Tallying like a little Mike Tyson.
34:04That's what Mike Tyson used to do.
34:06You just need that head movement to complete the mimicking.
34:11And the lisp.
34:14Or bite the glove, right?
34:16Yeah, exactly.
34:21Good defense there, Fred.
34:23He's got to get under the shots of Salcido.
34:28Speaking of Mike Tyson,
34:29he's had some wild moments in this building
34:31with our own Jim Gray a few times.
34:35Backy on a minute moment.
34:38Maybe a bite of some kind.
34:40Biting, I was here that night.
34:41Got crazy outside.
34:44It was interesting walking into this building
34:47and seeing all those posters and saying,
34:49I was at that fight.
34:50I was at that fight.
34:51Been there, done that.
34:53It's just amazing the history that has taken place in this building.
34:56And tonight, Manny Pacquiao has a chance to make history once again.
35:00He even got a banner up for Manny Pacquiao.
35:0216th appearance to pass Floyd Mayweather as the sole leader in terms of the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
35:13Opening in the mid-1990s, instantly became the house of big-time prize fighting.
35:18Back to the body, back to the body.
35:19Back to the body, back to the body.
35:22Every one move anybody over the past few generations fought in this house.
35:28Cruz pissed wild in the last combination.
35:32He's not doing what the corner told him.
35:34Straight to the body.
35:35Straight punches, faints.
35:37You're not seeing that.
35:38He's making it just hard enough for Cruz not to be able to land that shot flush.
35:57This is our last round, son.
35:58This is the last round, right?
36:00This is the last round, right?
36:00This is the last round, right?
36:02No, it's 10.
36:03This is 10.
36:04This is 10.
36:05This is 10.
36:05This is 10.
36:05This is 10.
36:06This is 10.
36:07This is 10.
36:08Last round, touch gloves.
36:15I need you to close with strength.
36:20I don't leave it in the judge's hands.
36:22I don't want to do that.
36:24Remember, I want you to take the initiative.
36:29I want you to be alert.
36:30Be ready.
36:31Take a deep breath.
36:33This is your last round.
36:35I need you to pick him up with the uppercut.
36:37Stop moving.
36:37What is that?
36:44We're just glad Omar Sancido took the fight, and we did not miss out on watching Isaac Pitbull
36:50Cruz fight this evening.
36:51Yeah, without doubt, I mean, as exciting as it was for Pitbull Cruz against Fierro.
36:57I mean, we still get to see Pitbull Cruz.
36:59We got some action.
37:01Unfortunately, Sancido is just on survival mode, making it difficult for Cruz to land some big
37:06shots.
37:07But here it is the last round, and he's going to go for it all.
37:10You can see just a general swelling of the entire face of Sancido, who has eaten one big-time power shot after another.
37:24There's Larry Hazard's unofficial scorecard.
37:27He's going to be a shutout thus far here in the final round.
37:31Not a single round for Sancido.
37:35Maybe one for showing up.
37:39Give him some credit.
37:40Don't do that.
37:41Give him credit for showing up.
37:46Give him credit for fighting 10 rounds.
37:48No question.
37:49Oh, and that's a nice right hand there.
37:51Look, at this point, we may see Sancido sell out because he was not sure if he could fight 10 rounds.
37:57He's like, I'm here.
37:58Let's do it.
38:02A lot of fighters would have hit the deck for the type of power shots that Cruz landed early.
38:11Nice left hook there from Isaac Cruz.
38:19Fox out of there.
38:20Look, I know Sancido lost to Andy Cruz and Jose Nunez, but he's got a beard on him.
38:25He can take a shot.
38:27He's throwable.
38:30But, oh, that's a snapping left hook right on the chin that Sancido took from Pitbull.
38:37Any variety of the left hand from Pitbull has been landing flush.
38:40One after another.
38:45Pitbull just leaned in so much that if Salcido Smarty picks him up with an uppercut, anything is possible.
38:53I even cruised his tower right now at this point.
38:55Left hook again from Isaac Cruz.
38:59Salcido needs to bite down when the Pitbull goes to work.
39:02Because El Faro de Casa, the Pitbull, is ready to put in some work here the last 40 seconds of his fight.
39:11I don't know how he would have stood that punishment.
39:13He said he wants to finish this fight.
39:15He wants to knock him out.
39:16And there's the point deduction, finally.
39:20And you know what?
39:21He says, I'll take the point deduction over the knockdown.
39:23It was a very purposeful hole.
39:25Yeah, it stopped the momentum that Cruz definitely had at that moment.
39:28So if I were Cruz, I was like, no, I don't know, don't take the point out of him.
39:34Vicious overhand right.
39:36It's been the left that's been doing damage this round.
39:39And now he has to hold on and take the knockdown.
39:42Put his glove on the canvas.
39:44I feel like this fight could be stopped.
39:48I mean, there's 17 seconds.
39:51You've got to give this kid a chance to finish on his feet.
39:54And he needs to move out of the way.
39:58Just survived, but he's got to turn it out.
40:02Credit to Omar Salcido for standing up to Isaac Cruz.
40:06And credit to Isaac Cruz for saying, you put whoever you want in front of me,
40:11and I am going to take them out.
40:18This was an exhilarating 10th round where Omar Salcido had to finish on his feet.
40:29Look, it was all power punches from Pitbull Lake.
40:31You see the four-punch combination, the voluntary late knee from Salcido.
40:37But what we said, credit to Salcido's will and chin for going the distance
40:43in what ultimately was a showcase for the explosiveness of Isaac Pitbull Cruz.
40:50The left hook, the right-hand follow.
40:53It was three and four-punch combinations all night long.
40:59We are just one more fight away from our main event.
41:05Our Jim Bray caught up with Manny Pacquiao moments ago.
41:08Manny, you're in the Boxing Hall of Fame, the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
41:15Do you still feel that you have something to prove in this game?
41:19This is another record.
41:21The first time that a fighter that inducted, after inducted of Hall of Fame
41:34is win by winning a world title fight.
41:38So Manny, is it Manny Pacquiao versus Mario Barrios tonight,
41:43or is it Manny Pacquiao against Father Time?
41:45Manny Pacquiao versus the history.
41:51I mean, that's the reason why I'm still here.
41:58What's your biggest concern tonight?
42:00You haven't fought in almost four years.
42:01The concern is, like, I mean, I've been in Leo for four years,
42:10but, you know, I always work hard.
42:15I always exercise in my house.
42:18So I'm not worried about the long Leo because, you know,
42:23in my mind it's better for me, for my body to rest for four years
42:27so that I'm fresh again, like what I feel when I started.
42:33So that's my feeling right now.
42:35I mean, I've been in boxing for how many decades?
42:40I started boxing since when I was 12 years old,
42:43and good thing for me because I'm able to rest for four years.
42:49Final thought.
42:50A lot of people have always been for you in your fights,
42:53but do you feel a different, special kind of love going into this fight
42:56because of your age and because of what you're attempting to do?
43:00Well, my intention is to inspire people,
43:04invite the boxing fans, and bring honor to my country.
43:07That's man.
43:08And to make history.
43:11Best of luck, Manny.
43:12We'll talk to you afterwards.
43:14The man is used to making history,
43:16and now we have our final CompuBox stats.
43:19All you need to know is that they both connected on just five jabs each,
43:23and then you see the disparity in Power Shots connected,
43:27195 to 79 at 36% for Isak Cruz.
43:31This should be a formality,
43:33but no one's as formal as Jimmy Lennon Jr.
43:35What's the decision?
43:39Ladies and gentlemen, after 10 rounds of action,
43:41the judges are in agreement.
43:43Here are the score totals.
43:44Judge Brinkside, Steve Weisfeld and Don Trella,
43:47both score the bouton, 99 to 89.
43:50Judge Max DeLuca scores it 100 to 88.
43:54All three in favor of the winner,
43:57and he is now the WBC Interim Super Lightweight Champion,
44:02Isak Pitbull Cruz.
44:06So Isak Cruz collects another belt for his collection
44:13as well as his 28th win,
44:15and Omar Salcido earns a solid payday.
44:20An important victory for this young man
44:22as he continues his...
