The movie follows Bobby Chrystal, a high school graduate played by Matt Lattanzi, who needs to pass his French exam to get into Yale University, his father's alma mater. Bobby's father, Mr. Chrystal (Kevin McCarthy), hires Terry Green (Caren Kaye), an attractive 29-year-old UCLA graduate and French tutor, to help Bobby prepare for the exam. As they spend more time together, Bobby and Terry develop a romantic relationship, which complicates Bobby's life and forces him to reevaluate his priorities.
