Transcript
00:00Thank you, Mr. President.
00:02Mr. President, I'm interested in this resolution to require the Department of Justice to release
00:05its files related to Jeffrey Epstein.
00:09For years, Donald Trump and the MAGA movement have railed on about the Epstein files.
00:14They've told the American people that they're going to release the files and expose the
00:18elites.
00:19Pam Bondi has said that she has the files on her desk and they're ready to go public.
00:23The names of these shady elites who had abused children were just sitting there and she was
00:29ready for it to be released.
00:32But now, a complete reversal.
00:35Trump is straight up gaslighting the American public.
00:38Does he think the American people are that dumb?
00:41Did he really think the American people would not forget what he had said for years on the
00:45campaign trail?
00:46Just yesterday, we went into the Trump administration, abruptly fired one of the lead prosecutors
00:51in the Epstein case.
00:52No explanation, no warning, just gone.
00:56So what happened?
00:57It's really easy to run a campaign and rile up people, but it's Trump's turn to actually
01:02expose the elites.
01:04Trump has chickened out, and it's because he is one of those elites, and he is taking
01:08care of his own.
01:11It's all connected.
01:12Just look at his legislative agenda.
01:14Tax breaks for his rich buddies, subsidizing private jet purchases.
01:18Again and again, he rigs the system against everyday Americans.
01:22And that's what this resolution is about, to show the American people that they deserve
01:27the truth.
01:28No more shady cover-ups.
01:30If there is any evidence of a cover-up in the Epstein case, the public has a right to
01:34know.
01:34If there is a list, the public deserves to see it.
01:37And Americans deserve to see the truth, even if it's not what Donald Trump and his elite
01:41friends want.
01:43The Department of Justice has these files, and there is nothing to hide, then release them
01:48and prove it.
01:50Trump's own people have told us a million times that they have it, and that they promised
01:54to make it to the public, so bring it out.
01:57It doesn't matter who is implicated in that.
01:59The American people are done with these games, these lies, and the two systems of justice,
02:04one for the elites and one for everyone else.
02:08Enough with the secrets.
02:09The American people deserve the truth.
02:11So I am calling on my fellow senators to join me in demanding the Department of Justice
02:17release the Epstein files to restore public trust, affirm institutional accountability,
02:23and to prevent the politicization of justice.
02:26With that, as if in legislative session and notwithstanding Rule 22, I ask unanimous consent
02:32the Senate proceed to the consideration of SR-325 submitted earlier today.
02:37Further, I ask unanimous consent that the resolution be agreed to, the parable be agreed to, and
02:43the motions to reconsider be considered made and laid upon the table with no intervening
02:47action or debate.
02:49Is there an objection?
02:51I reserve the right to object.
02:53The senator from Oklahoma.
02:56Mr. President, this is nothing but political theater.
03:00It's so obvious that the Democrats are just using this for political football.
03:04If they're really serious about it, what happened the last four years?
03:08Or were they silent?
03:10Doing nothing but covering up for an absent president, and now all of a sudden they want
03:15to talk about transparency?
03:17Wait a minute, you figured out who ran the White House the last four years, and now all of a sudden
03:20they want to make something of this?
03:23Are you kidding me?
03:25If they're serious about it, then why didn't they say something the last four years?
03:28This is nothing more than just political theater trying to go after a president that they
03:34truly despise.
03:36With that, I object.
