00:00You know, you had indicated last night in a tweet that there might be something else afoot.
00:03I think reading between the lines, you said that there's a lot of great and qualified people that are wanting the job.
00:07And frankly, Jerome, the ball's in his court.
00:09He needs to lower those interest rates.
00:11And if he does, we need a better person.
00:12But you know, I mean, you know, the FOMC, it's a board of people.
00:16I mean, is it kind of too much focus on him directly, you think, regardless of what you think of the interest rate policy?
00:22Ultimately, he's the one that's the deciding factor, and I think he's probably very influential.
00:26And it's not outside of the president's purview of authority to be able to fire him.
00:30That's not going to shock the markets?
00:32I think people are already expecting it.
00:34If you see the overall opinion on Jerome Powell, I think a lot of people are ready for him to go.
00:38And I can tell you that I will go on record in saying that I definitely think that he needs to be fired.
00:42And I think that I'm not the only legislator that thinks that way.
00:44What was the president's message in the meeting last night?
00:51Look, I don't like to publicly disclose what we talk about in private, and I'll respect that.
00:56But what I will tell you is I think that the rule is going to pass today, that we've gotten definitely affirmation from the president that he does not back a central-backed digital currency.
01:04And so, obviously, everyone's being cautious of that moving forward.
01:07And I think that we're going to get some of the great legislation that was put forward by Tom Emmer on that exact topic.
01:12Are you expecting some of the changes in how these bills move and how these bills pass, whether it's going to be language change or rules change,
01:17to really solidify that anti-CBDC concerns that you and others have?
01:22I think that there's definitely going to be some new legislation hitting the floor.
01:25And then also, too, remember, we can amend here.
01:27Obviously, we want an open amendment process.
01:29And so, for those people that might not know what the parliamentary procedure is, it simply means that we want to stab at the apple in forming the legislation.
01:36But, again, the people that are drafting this want to ensure that there is no CBDC.
01:39There's a lot of Democrats in the Senate that want a central-backed digital currency.
01:43That means you don't have privacy and you don't have your own autonomy in the financial markets.
01:46And so, we make sure that we have to kind of tailor our legislation to ensure that we can get around that hurdle.
01:52But the president has been very supportive and is very effective in whipping votes also in the Senate.
01:56On the obscene files.
01:58Is that going to be a problem?
01:59Say that again, sorry.
01:59Changes on the rescissions bill from the Senate, is that going to be a problem when that moves across the building?
02:04I don't know.
02:05I don't know yet.
02:06That's not a definitive yes.
02:08That suggests that maybe some people might not like what's coming over.
02:11Well, we'll see what ends up happening.
02:12We like to be more aggressive in the House.
02:14Congresswoman, the president said today that Republicans who still have questions on the Jeffrey Epstein case are being stupid is the word he used.
02:21Foolish is another word he used.
02:23He said they're doing the Democrats' bidding.
02:24Is he right when he says that?
02:26Well, I think that there's going to be more to come on that.
02:29And so, I obviously don't speak for the White House.
02:30But what I can tell you is I'm also hearing him ask for transparency on the topic, something that we've been very, very much so championing.
02:37But he's telling Republicans to move on, too.
02:38Wait, just let me finish on that one.
02:39Again, he said that the attorney general should release credible information, and I think that there's going to be more to come on that.
02:46And you can read into my statement on that.
02:48Can I ask you on Massey's discharge petition, is that something you could support?
02:54I haven't read through it yet, but I've been continuously advocating.
02:57But I don't necessarily know that it's going to come to needing a discharge petition.
03:00What are you getting at?
03:02Are you going to ask for that?
03:03Do you think judiciary or oversight deal?
