00:00Everton are entering an important period of planning and squad development under David
00:07Moyes as they prepare for the upcoming Premier League campaign.
00:12Following a season of transition, the focus now shifts to ensuring stability through a
00:17mix of contract extensions, calculated signings and well-managed exits.
00:23Moyes is keen to build a more reliable, cohesive side that can compete consistently and climb
00:28up the table.
00:30Key figures within the squad are already taking talks with their futures, while Everton prioritise
00:35those who fit the long-term vision.
00:37The recruitment strategy is being shaped not just by immediate needs but by broader goals
00:43of creating a team that reflects Moyes' identity – disciplined, hard-working and efficient.
00:49The leadership group is confident that the current structure under Moyes offers the clarity
00:54and control needed to get those calls right.
00:58We spoke to Will Rooney of Liverpool World to better understand the state of play behind
01:03the scenes.
01:04He explained that while Everton are exploring several signings, there's also serious attention
01:09being paid to renewing the contracts of core players, those who offer leadership and consistency
01:16throughout the group.
01:17Will, on to Everton in terms of the summer window.
01:21I know we obviously mentioned there's been a fair few players out the door, but there's
01:25been some contract renewals since as well.
01:28Let's just start with that.
01:29Who's going to be staying?
01:31Who's going to be in David Moyes' plans for the future that maybe rewind a month or so?
01:36Where the future might have been a bit uncertain at Everton?
01:38Yeah, so the good news is Ryskana Gay obviously depends a one-year extension with the option
01:44of another year and I think every fan will agree that that was the right decision.
01:51Ryskana Gay might be 35-36, but he was immense last season.
01:58He was playing like he was 25, 26.
02:01He was Everton's best player for me, rightly, he was awarded player of the year.
02:07In a massive summer for Everton, keeping your nucleus of your team, your spine of your team,
02:14it's going to be important.
02:15Now they've done that, they've renewed the contract of Jarrod Bramfoyt, which is a real
02:21statement of intent from the Freakin group because Jarrod Bramfoyt will be one of the most
02:27coveted centre-backs in the Premier League, if not in Europe.
02:33He's got everything you'd want in the defender, he's left-footers as well, there's not many
02:37of them around.
02:38He's going to go right to the very top and Everton have laid down a mark saying, right,
02:44we're not selling them this summer, we're building our team effectively around a player
02:49like Jarrod Bramfoyt and who knows, whatever, and if they do well this season, what could come
02:53of that, but that is almost like a sign in itself because it's quelled all the early
02:59rumours and they'll talk about maybe Tottenham coming in for him, but instead I think Bramfoyt's
03:05probably been given a good contract, one that he deserves, one that represents his stature
03:12in the team. I think the decision to tie down Michael Keane for another year is prudence.
03:20Look, Everton need four centre-backs, Bramfoyt will be the starter, James Tarkowski's working
03:27his way back from a serious hamstring injury at the end of last season. He's into the last
03:33year of his contract and he's been really reliable, James Tarkowski for Everton. He didn't miss a
03:41Premier League game until that injury, he suffers in the back end of the campaign, but he is in his
03:47thirties, are Everton maybe going to have to manage him a little bit more carefully this season, given
03:52the severity of his hamstring issue? We've got Jake O'Brien who can also play right back, so signing
03:58Michael Keane again for another year, it made sense. It meant Everton didn't have to go out
04:03and recruit in another position when they already need so many and Seamus Coleman extending his
04:11contract another year, bringing Everton to the new Hill Dickinson Stadium. Maybe he might have
04:20retired in other circumstances, but David Moyes wanted to keep him, he wanted to keep his voice
04:25in the dressing room and I think it will be important for Everton to have him for another
04:30year. So, look, they all make sense who they've kept and now it's about who they can bring in.
04:36A little push, a little boost in terms of attracting players later on in the Windsor.
04:42All right.
