Catch our raw, real-time footage of a fire breaking out on the west end of Pine Street in Budds Beach, Surfers Paradise! We’d just returned from a medical appointment when we saw thick black smoke rising in our lively Gold Coast neighborhood. The firies quickly contained the blaze to one building in this densely packed area. Our video shows on-the-ground shots of the firies at work after the fire was under control, the local news crew covering the story, and reactions from locals. 03:26So they're going to be desperate to look that out before it's rain.

04:16And a huge fire has just broken out just down the road for us.
04:20And we've got helicopters circling the sky.
04:24We've got more fire trucks coming to the sea.
04:26And I can't tell from here which building is a fire,
04:32but it's surrounded by houses there,
04:36or apartments, finances,
04:38on either side of it.
04:42So that is just really awful.

04:50I mean the building itself is not doing well, I imagine.
04:54But the main concern now is that no one is inside.
