Brush fires prompts evacuations and road closures in San Diego
California firefighters were battling brush fires that were igniting across San Diego County on Tuesday, January 21.
Fueled by strong Santa Ana winds and dry conditions, a fast-moving brush fire on broke out on a hillside shortly after noon in Mission Valley, prompting evacuations and road closures.
The fire started on the north side of Friars Road, near Fashion Valley mall. Police shut down a section of the road and evacuated nearby buildings as ground crews and helicopters battled the fire, which was spreading uphill toward a condominium complex.
