Transcript
00:00Well it's a fine looking wall here down at Whittington Cricket Club and Joe Shingler,
00:05you built it.
00:06I did, I did.
00:07We've put it to the test haven't we, you've had a load of kids sitting up on it and it's
00:11still standing, so obviously you know what you're doing.
00:13So you represent Shingler Group, it's a building firm yeah?
00:17Yeah so it's a family company, family building firm, based in and around Tropshire.
00:23So we've got yourself here, we've got Dan from the club, what's your role at the club
00:26here Dan?
00:27Vice Chairman of the club.
00:28And Kate you represent?
00:30TG Builders Merchants.
00:31And you supplied all the bricks and stuff?
00:34We did yeah.
00:35So Dan just fill us in on what's been going on at the club here, it's a bit of a link and
00:39sponsorship with these guys yeah?
00:41Absolutely.
00:42They've been fantastic in helping us out, renovating our front gate here.
00:49Before it was a bit dilapidated, a bit run down, now it's a lot more secure, it looks absolutely
00:55fantastic.
00:56And we're really proud to be part of this sponsorship.
00:59Cool.
01:00So Joe you've got your name there on the shirt, so you're sponsoring them for the coming season,
01:05is that what the plan is?
01:07Yeah so this is the new Shropshire hub for women's cricket I believe, and it's good that
01:12the Shingler Group can give back to the community with our partnership.
01:17Cool.
01:18And Kate Tudor Griffiths, they're based not too far away are they?
01:21No they're Ellesmere, Shropshire.
01:23Yeah yeah so big, I mean you know Whittington and Ellesmere, a bit of cricket rivals, you're
01:27going to get in trouble for getting involved over here.
01:29I'm a Whittington girl anyway, so it's more good for me.
01:32Ah, cool.
01:33So how come TG wanted to get involved, just a good community kind of project?
01:38Yeah a bit of both really, and we've worked closely with the Shingler Group for many years
01:43now as some of their suppliers, so it went hand in hand with the local cricket club and good
01:49to see it back open, up and running after 11 years.
01:52And it's important isn't it Dan to get companies on board, because there are bills to be paid
01:57running a club, you know what I mean?
01:59It's not cheap is it?
02:00Yeah yeah.
02:01And yeah, extremely grateful for the support for it, and especially with the Team Kit sponsorship
02:06as well.
02:07Looks fantastic and I think it's a win-win for everyone.
02:09So we're here with Caroline, and Caroline you're one of the cricketers?
02:12I am yes, I am one of the originals.
02:14What does it mean then to the club when you've got people like Shingler and TG Group on board?
02:19Oh, I think it's huge.
02:20The investment they've made in the club and the support that they've given us is immense.
02:25We couldn't have done half the things they've done for us this season without their support.
02:30It's really great, we're so grateful, so grateful.
02:32And popular for the ladies team here?
02:35Yeah, we've got a thriving ladies team, the Whittington Witches.
02:38Love that name by the way, love that.
02:40I think we do cackle quite a lot.
02:42I love it.
02:43So yeah, we've got a thriving team and we've got lots of youngsters coming through the ranks
02:47from the girls as well, so they feed into the ladies team which is brilliant.
02:51And it's looking great, that top isn't it?
02:53Nice design.
02:54Absolutely fab, yeah.
02:55Brilliant.
02:56Good luck.
02:57Good luck in your future cricket nebbers.
02:59Lovely.
03:00Thanks very much.
