Sedgley Police Station now housing, first look inside.

We take a look in the former Sedgley Police station as developers turn it into accomodation.

00:00I'm standing outside the former Sedgley police station. In the not too distant past this building

00:07was used as a place to hold criminals and to hold court trials. Now it is going to be used as a

00:14place for people to live. The building was built back in the late 1700s originally as the village

00:23workhouse. It later became used as a police station and now it is being converted into flats. I am

00:33joined now by Liam Floyd, the director of Taylors Estate Agents and it will be up to him to market

00:40these apartments. I'm with Liam Floyd, director of Taylors Estate Agents at the old police station in

00:47Sedgley. Liam can you take us show some of the features of this building? Absolutely, follow me.

00:56The original prison doors on.

01:01And here as well. And as you can see as well we've got the

01:06bars at the windows here as well which they've kept. So what would this have been? Would this

01:13have been a police cell? Yeah it's one of the cells. Obviously quite spacious but I think there were

01:20probably three here divided into one main space. So where would the bathroom and the bedrooms be then?

01:31Okay so if we go this way. I mean they were really keen to keep a lot of the original features

01:39which I believe in costing them more money. But of course the outcome is a lot more.

01:45Obviously the same sort yeah. So then we've got through here we've got bedroom, main bedroom in the

01:54there. And we've got the main bathroom in there.

02:24We've got bedroom too which is another double.

02:31Well this I believe was some roof space that was discovered by the builders after they

02:39taken out of the building. Yes. And I understand there's some quite interesting features.

02:43Yeah there's some good ones here. As you can see they've kept the original beams in.

02:49I've got a view of the church through the side window just there and they've kept the poor cell window as well.

03:11So what would this building have been used, this part of the building have been used for then?

03:23Well this originally would have been the courtrooms. Yes.

03:27And what they've done is they've divided into lower and upper courtroom.

03:31Most of the upper courtrooms a bit more but it's got the views and a lot more of the features as well.
