00:00So, the Malaysian Bar is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Walk for Safeguard Judicial Independence, which took place earlier this afternoon from the Palace of Justice to the Prime Minister's Office in Putrajaya.
00:14We saw the participation from members of the bar and pupils in chambers and members of the public, all united in our call to address the pressing concerns regarding the independence of the judiciary, particularly the ongoing vacancies in the judiciary, the need for institutional continuity and a more transparent and accountable judicial appointment process.
00:35The purpose of the Walk is simple. It's just to uphold the independence of the judiciary. So, we would like for everybody to recognize that judicial independence is important and is a prerequisite for having a good democratic system.
00:52We have seen there are a lot of several media statements, talks in social media that could jeopardize the independence of the judiciary. We would like that to be settled and we are asking the government to resolve it as soon as possible.
01:08Are you giving the government a time frame on how soon it is?
01:11No, no, we are not giving any timeline to the government.
